Marina Orlova, known to millions of fans around the world as a sexy master of language, HotForWords, is Internet “sensation”. Hailing from Arzamas Russia, which was founded in 1578 by Ivan the Terrible in the lands populated at the time by the Mordvin people.

Marina has has studied both English and Russian extensively. She has two degrees: one in Russian Language Education and World Literature, with a specialization in Philology, and another in English Language Education, with a specialization in Philology. She received both of her degrees from the State University of Arzamas in the Russian Federation, from which she graduated in 2002. Back in Russia Marina taught English and World Literature to high-schoolers. She came to the United States 10 years ago to improve her English skills and prepare for her Ph.D., but she ended up staying in the U.S. simply because of the warmer weather.

She began researching her Internet curriculum on English word origins in December of 2006, and, in February of 2007, officially launched the HotForWords channel on YouTube. The channel rocketed her to global prominence. Her videos have been seen almost half a billion times (480,240,580 views Total Video Views on YouTube alone and counting!)

In each video she takes word requests from YouTube users and discusses their meanings and origins. Something that might, at first, seem boring, but when a buxom blonde with a Russian accent teaches you anything, it can be quite educational, thus proving, as her tag-line states, that “Intelligence is Sexy.”

Called the “Sexiest philologist in the world” by New Yorker Magazine, Marina was voted the World’s #1 Sexiest Geek by Wired.com, she’s a regular on Fox Network’s O’Reilly Factor Show, she was voted the 5th hottest woman on the net by G4 TV, she’s been recommended by the New York Times Magazine, she was mentioned in Cosmopolitan as one of the top 3 channels on YouTube, and she was part of the Best Online Campaign of 2009! In addition, Marina just completed her book, published by HarperCollins, entitled Hot for Words, hosted a bi-weekly showt on Maxim Radio on Sirius Satellite Radio. In spring of 2010 Marina started doing video lessons of Russian for RT  (TV network) and in the fall of the same year, she was hired to be the spokeswoman for AnastasiaDate,  an online dating website. The Moscow Times said “Marina exploits her blonde-bombshell looks to the maximum: She appears in her two-minute clips scantily clad, pouting and making doe eyes. This is surely the main factor in her success. However, while the number of scantily clad girls on the Internet is limitless, not all of them put so much intellectual effort into their success.” She was featured in magazine Askmen.com with her top word myth story Askmen.com . Marina also appeared as a cover girl on FHM.COM . In 2012 she started an online series of videos for a personal finance website www.bankrate.com where she explains the meaning of commonly used financial and economic terms.

Marina also graduated from Arzamas School of Painting in 1997, the first private provincial art school in Russia, founded in the city of Arzamas by the painter A. V. Stupin, who was a director of the Arzamas School until 1861. The school was under the tutelage of the St. Petersburg Academy of Fine Arts. During its best years (the 1830’s) the Arzamas School helped to develop genre painting close to the style of the Venetian school. The Arzamas School was the alma mater of such artists as Vasily Perov , K. A. Makarov, and R. A. Stupin.
