42% of people who graduate from college never read another book.
1/3 of high school graduates never read another book for the rest of their lives.
42 percent of college graduates never read another book after college.
80 percent of U.S. families did not buy or read a book last year.
(Source: Jenkins Group) more stats here.
I find these statistics horrible.
“But high-school and college ruined the enjoyment of reading books for me!” is a phrase I’ve often heard.
Perhaps there is some truth to this as a lot of my friends do view reading as a chore, and they end up buying books that they think they *should* read… self help books, relationship books, career advancement books, etc. The end result is a pile of half-read books that they never finish, further supporting their view that “reading is a chore.”
Actually, reading is one of the most enjoyable past-times there is. After I’ve read a book, I oftentimes think that I have seen the movie due to the vivid imagination that I have. But those vivid images only come about if the book I just read was truly engrossing.
What makes a truly enjoyable and engrossing book for me? A mystery? A love story? Science fiction? A spy novel? All of them do! Any book that allows me to escape from my world and immerse myself into a another world, very different from my own, is an enjoyable book for me! Sometimes a book is so good, I end up reading it in every spare minute I have over 2 or 3 days. Then, when the book is done, I am bummed that it’s over! When’s the last time you read a book like that?
Other times I’ll pick up a book and immediately I have trouble getting through the first chapter. Do you know what I do then? I put the book away in my bookshelf and find myself another book that is more fun to read. I may go through 3 or 4 books at a time to find that enjoyable book, but it’s worth it. Because reading is so much fun for me, I will not allow it to become a chore… and if a book starts feeling like a chore for me to get through… it’s “bye-bye” to that book.
You should do the same. Get rid of all of those half read books and go curl up with a fun book! Let’s reverse these horrible statistics at the beginning of this post and let’s reverse this horrible feeling that reading is a chore. Some of the greatest discoveries in history happened due to an active imagination, and I feel that an active imagination is developed through reading, so do your part to further advance mankind – READ A (FUN) BOOK!
When’s the last time you’ve read a whole book just for fun and enjoyed it? What was it about?
Oh, one other thing. For those of you who think reading is not sexy, here are some fun pics I found of a familiar face who also loved to read :-)

it is a pity that people do not read in a world where media manipulates the information .. Readers are certainly leaders…
42% of college students… This is my fate.
I hated reading because I went through the pain of learning English as an ESL student, then, Internet decreased my attention span, making me unable to read.
However, the situation is more interesting: I am able to read and understand math, I can understand chem and physics, and even history, but the only problem I face is fiction. When reading non-fiction, I know what it is talking about, and for fiction, it is like 10 seconds being prolonged into 1 page.
Maybe it is because of impatience, my fundamental vice that made me unable to do chores properly, have bad handwriting, and hate reading fiction.
Call me skeptical of this statistic, if it’s true it’s sad. My weekly blog piece about my reading, I read constantly. The book I read the most today is “The Greenhouse” by
Audur Ava Olafsdottir. My post today.
http://ed2dq.com/2012/05/04/twits/
Photo credits are a must. Read that in a copyright book sometime.
Putting away a book just because the first chapter cannot pull you into a ban is a mistake in my view. I’ve read many books of which I can say I had to “work through” the first 50 pages, but giving the author time enough to build up his characters was totally worth it in the end.
Also, I think those statistics are bullshit. The link to the jenkins group is broken, by the way. If those stats were true, books wouldn’t be a business. Also, basing such stats on sales numbers alone doesn’t make sense – books are being circulated, exchanged through various “book crossing” sites and clubs, borrowed out, taken from the public library, or bought second or third hand. At least my books stem largely from garage sales and the like.
The book can always be there for another time. Some books aren’t mean to be read by certain people and at certain times. I know I go through many different books at a time. Which gets obvious on my Friday posts at ed2dq.com I think I read like pieces of like 2-3 dozen books this week. Ok around 25.
Good post, it’s pleasure to read your interesting post.

hi my girl!
It seems to me, in USA 90% of people who graduate from college never read another book.Â
1/3 of high school graduates do not understand fractions.
42% of college graduates do not understand percentages.
80% of U.S. families cannot spell ”book.” Â
One of my former professors asked me a question a long time ago that I still keep in my mind as I teach. “If we teach students to read, and simultaneously teach them to hate to read, what have we actually accomplished?”
JRR Tolkien said that he knew he had finished a good book when, upon finishing, he felt like he just said goodbye to a good friend.
Miscellaneous Joke
A lonely stranger went into a deserted restaurant and ordered the breakfast special. When his order arrived, he looked up at the waitress and asked, “How about a kind word?” The waitress leaned over and whispered, “Don’t eat the meat.
Looks like I finally found some daylight, and starting to feel good and lucky, Whatever or whom ever I hope this puppy keeps working, and thank all of you that are working on and trying your best to fix, and get good Ol’ Hot For Words, back and running properly again!
bet you $1,000
A man walks into a bar, and as he makes his way to the counter, he stops and talks to everyone in the bar. As he finishes with each group of people, they all get up and leave and go stand outside the window, looking in. Finally, the bar is empty except for this guy and the bartender.
The man walks up to the counter, and says to the bartender, “I bet you $1,000 that I can spray beer from my mouth into a shot glass from thirty feet away, and not get any outside the glass.”
The bartender thinks that this guy is a nutcase, but he wants his $1,000, so he agrees. The bartender gets out a shot glass, paces off thirty feet, and the contest begins.
The man sprays beer all over the bar. He doesn’t even touch the shot glass. When he finishes, the bartender grins at him and says, “Well, I guess you owe me $1,000, huh?”
The man answers, “Yeah, but I bet all of those people outside the window $500 apiece that I could come in here, spray beer all over the bar, and have you smile about it.”
Money for the Preacher
After the church service a little boy told the pastor, “When I grow up, I’m going to give you some money.”
“Well, thank you,” the pastor replied, “but why?”
“Because my daddy says you’re one of the poorest preachers we’ve ever had.”
Let me try a joke and see what happens!
Tight Shoes
A man walks into a shoe store, and tries on a pair of shoes.
“How do they feel?” asks the sales clerk.
“Well, they feel a bit tight.” replies the man.
The assistant promptly bends down and has a look at the shoes and the mans feet.
“Try pulling out on the tongue.” offers the clerk.
“Nath theyth sthill feelth a bith tighth.” He says.
That was very strange I just got a couple replies to some of my earlier stuff just now in my email as a responce, it showed up in the recently posted box, but was nowhere to be found here in the lesson pages, and he has said ans stated pretty much the same deal with him, but my posts where are mixed up, and somehow meshed together with other stuff, and made it all a jumbled up mess, and the mixing of 2 different post, and cut of most of what I was trying to say, and then when into only partially then clashed with the news about Nicohlas Cage. And the rest did post from me, but he got some of it somehow, only one distorted and really messed up, meshed up comment posted itself together, and somehow posted I guess, just saying and stating so that any of you that are out there and care, what is happening, and why I’m not posting replying like I want or wish to. As I type this a few of my just plain by itself post seems right now to be taking or posting like they should just a tad bit ago that appears to be a good sign anyway, Thank you all for your time! Peace!
That looked and appeared to have posted right now, but did it really, just a little test, and trying to reach out to you all! Peace!
Somehow the post button just came back, let me try this again for anyone out there and belongs, or cares to I was trying to contact, VenomRock and a few others there, and my maiden thing is done at least the main part, it took awhile but I finally got it! Anyone out there! Holler on back if you can, or come to VenomRock’s Metal/Rock Forum, only place for me that will post and stay posted, work at all, this is the only choice or option that was and still is at least for the moment working and functional This originally started out as a one of my many attempts to contact LeoNaRD, and it just showed up in the post box, and the button has finally showed itself to me once again, but will work, I can only hope!Yes I see that could be a big problem, or possibly lead up to one, by the sounds of that, how are you getting replies to work, it is almost a gaurantee not to work for me lately, I hope this one, and I tried PageDoll, I tried my best friend VenomRock, and nothing will work for me post , very little, replying almost zero, I cross my fingers and hope this makes it. Thank you brother, for all your help and understanding my friend see you around LeoNaRD! Neo! Out! Peace! Fire In The Hole!!!
Here’s the Scoop….
Nicolas Cage isn’t letting legal drama affect his career.
Following his arrest on Friday for domestic abuse, public
intoxication and disturbing the peace, the Academy Award-
winning actor, 47, was back to work Monday on the New
Orleans set of his latest film, Medallion.
“He is always extremely professional,” a set source says of
Nicolas. “He is a dedicated actor when he is at work, and I
don’t think people would hire him so much if he wasn’t.”
Nicolas, who the source says is currently “in fine shape and
ready to work,” isn’t wasting any time diving into challenging
parts of filming.
The source also reveals that Nicolas is “very excited about”
doing some of his own stunts for some action sequences he
will take on later this week.
Whoops they all just vanish and went away, even a short joke I had posted in didn’t even make it through, All well just documenting this type of error has happened just now all the links are going, but a plain typed out short joke didn’t make it either4:45 P.M. Here in PA. EST.Just a simple post all alone and not responding or replying to anyone, I think it’s something like Houston Were Breaking Up! LOL! Better put that there before I get misunderstood, or become a martyr. Again my sick sense of humor, nothing meant what so ever to offend, or real, or meant to do anything like that, I should have started labeling, and making it all mapped out and clear way back, so as not to be taken the wrong way, or the real and true intentions that I have made more than clear, getting a little weary people taking and making whatever they feel like it, or somehow in error seems in their way as real, when I’m just acting and joking people, I know I’m strange, weird, odd, bizarre in many ways, so I can see where it is hard to see or notice, if I’m joking or serious. Just letting you all know, the truth as to mostly what I try to do, and really mean or intend, My sick sense of humor is a very hard thing for most to understand or see it that way. But I do! Truth, not fiction! I guess I better move on, before I get arrested for loitering! LOL! Peace, don’t always take me so serious, is all I’m trying to say! But I do really mean the peace, and everything good, understood, get it, got it, good!
Well let me see, I will now attempt for you all to post some links, and I hope all goes well, we all have fun, and hopefully enjoy yourselves!

Three drunks hailed a taxi. The taxi driver seeing that they were so wasted when they got in, he just switched on the engine and switched it off, and said we are here. The 1st guy gave him money, 2nd guy said thanks, but the 3rd guy slapped him. The taxi driver was stunned because he was hoping that none of them would have realized the car didn’t move an inch. So what was that for, he asked. Control your speed next time, you almost killed us.
Ouch! That’s gonna bury us all, I’m sure!
What do you mean by that? I just noticed you for the first time in a long time. What is going on what does it mean to have a message flagged, or why, for what possible reasons? I seen it before the first time it ever happened to me ever. Well I know Nuuzzziiigg! I’m only speak my self, and letting it out, I don’t believe in hiding or covering up, or political correctness, I believe its just a more modern way to lie, or mis lead people from the truth, That ids all I done speak, and using my freedoms, I didn’t mean or intend anything what so ever, so how are you doing, what is it that attracted you here to me now, it is a welcome I hope and think, ans pray that it is, Long time no hear anyhow. I was want the truth, and to be friends, and get along, and allow me to express myself, in my way, I got my own sense of humor that most don’t seem to understand or even realize it most of the time, I just want to be able to talk and create, and get along and have fun, I was only speaking what I thought, nothing wrong with that the last I checked, and just joking around, expressing myself by art, song, and words, and there is absolutely nothing more to it what so ever. I’m only asking what you mean out of curiousity, because I would like to know the meaning that you had or have in mind, if any, or what was you doing or thinking of this for! I’m just a fellow student, that doesn’t know anything! Are they analyzing posts, to try and find the errors and mistakes that are just simply happening on the site, I probably got some problems or issues on my end, I been doing all that I can think, and go out and buy extra protection, to fix, and stop spyware, ad-ware, virus’s, I meant no harm, or anything to anyone period. Well my friend whatever it is I hope your visit and everything is a blessing of things to come-Choosing thoughts ideas, always choose the good ones! Well I can’t hang, or match a lot of your guy’s intellegence, but I try anyhow, to at least be a friend, And that is the utter complete truth, how help me God I swear to it, and nothing more. Peace, and for a confused and in the dark about what you had to say, What you talking about! Well I’m slow, so I do miss a lot of things. All the better to you and all ! Neo Out!
Easy dude.. Relax. I meant it was literally gonna bury us all, of course. Nothing else! I hope you didn’t think it was gonna bury us all 6 feet under with shovel and earth? Sorry for the confusion. Take it easy, all right?

The Art Collector
A famous art collector is walking through the city when he notices a mangy cat lapping milk from a saucer in the doorway of a store. He does a double take.
He knows that the saucer is extremely old and very valuable, so he walks casually into the store and offers to buy the cat for two dollars.
The store owner replies, “I’m sorry, but the cat isn’t for sale.”
The collector says, “Please, I need a hungry cat around the house to catch mice. I’ll pay you 20 dollars for that cat.”
And the owner says “Sold,” and hands over the cat.
The collector continues, “Hey, for the twenty bucks I wonder if you could throw in that old saucer. The cat’s used to it and it’ll save me from having to get a dish.”
The owner says, “Sorry buddy, but that’s my lucky saucer. So far this week I’ve sold sixty-eight cats.”
Chess Playing Dog
A man went to visit a friend and was amazed to find him playing chess with his dog. He watched the game in astonishment for a while. “I can hardly believe my eyes!” he exclaimed. “That’s the smartest dog I’ve ever seen.”
“Nah, he’s not so smart,” the friend replied. “I’ve beaten him three games out of five.”
Daughter In College
Did you hear about the banker who was recently arrested for embezzling $100,000 to pay for his daughter’s college education?
As the policeman, who also had a daughter in college, was leading him away in handcuffs, he said to the banker, “I have just one question for you. Where were you going to get the rest of the money?”
Well riddle me this or riddle me that, are any if any are talking or communicating, with me or not Well what would the truth be. If your mad or upset, or disagree with anything that I did, said, done acted, that’s wasn’t my intentions and meaning was joking and playing around in a friendly and unharmful way, at least that’s how it is to me, and many people around here do when they are bored or try to entertain, or get a friends attention right or wrong of me, that is what I really And True mean, and nothing more, nearly all the time. I know that their are bugs, and things hindering some people from answering, having internet, computer problems, I understand, if your busy with work, or life, I can understand, but if you do have some time, and are here, and none of these issues pertain, or are true in your case, then I can only hope it is mainly the site, and lack of newer lessons, and the learning factor, over entertainment, I think in some cases, has been made more of a priorety, talent, and entertainment seems to be more what seems to be happening more and more. At least that’s how I see it, It is Marina and her site, and can do, or handle how she sees fit. And I don’t expect people to see or agree with any if anything at all. I only offer my opinions and thoughts. It seems sometimes Marina tries to go back to her root, by using her very own apartment, instead of a studio, but I would like it anyhow. She seemed to me a more exploration, and meaning of words, and still try to retain the fun, and entertaining value, It is a lot harder thing than probably most understand. I know I couldn’t never do and handle things, and make such a great success of herself. way up there to celeberty , and learn the words and their origin, and she does have the talent, the beauty, some of the greatest potentals , and she would be a fool to waste or pass that up , and she is doing that and much more, so with some many different students, and projects, that that woman has decided to tackle, and rightfully so. And what are people here for, where are they from, their backrounds, and the way they look and want to see or experience what The Hot For Words Class means, or want or wish it to be, it’s an easy thing to do, with the masses growing all the time, with all her responcibilities, and stuff, and this class that way exceeds Marina’s time and attention, to be able to have the time or it would be almost impossible to come across on a more personal basis than maybe she would like, I know I have, and many have thought of quiting, at one point or another, for many different reasons, But what I think I’m trying to say I’m a real and true friend, and always and forever there for you as a friend I only hope and wish, I’m not trying to complain or put anyone down there are many iron’s in the fire for Marina, and a way to huge fan’ classmate status to ever even be imaginable to do so. I know I’m guilty and impatient myself at times, which I’m sorry for, I speak or act out of line at times, yes this is true and I admit, but most of the times not so, It just isn’t the case most of the time I assure you. I should know better that anyone what I’m doing, saying acting, although, I do appreciate, and welcome help to see some of my errors or mistakes that I may not have noticed, or even seen or considered as such, but to others it came across totally different than it’s originally meant and the real intent, or what was the more popular , I hope none of this was misunderstood, or seen in a light that just isn’t right, or ever meant to do any harm, for the most part. I’m not perfect, but I’m always there and care, a real , true friend, regardless of it all, and everything , if people got issues or problems, or want to talk as friends, or just to get something off your chest, or you felt or believed to have been wronged by me in any way, we can work it out, and the most important and strongest power, and possessions we have is And I stress the word we and, friends, this is what really and true matters to the real me!
Now lets just have fun and get along. And let freedom, and friendship reign over all, now on with my routine, and I have ever intention and plans to deliver on my works in VR’S Forum. If at all possible. I see nothing to stop me, or any of us! I’m one bizarre mixed-up. crazy, and one of the sickest sense of humour, or tastes, and way to see and express my,And seperate the acting from the real, most of it isn’t. So is there are anything wrong, or want to rejoin and keep going on together, I’m all for that, always was and will be! On with the act or routine I promise, it may contain links so it may not post, I will have to start and try to keep remembering to save my work more often, or would it matter, or be better off without me and the many different ways of me, yet the same, they all converge into one I think, so how can the true self be totally and completely different that the acting, cos-playing, joking, playing friendly and harmless yanking chains, or pulling your leg, just unharmful meant little tricks, and games, and playing around. I started on one of my rambling sprees, sorry bout that! And now I see I forgot my grammar, paragraphs, spelling not there . or the best I can do.
He we go!
Grandma’s Visit
Little Tony was so happy to see his grandmother that he ran up and gave her a big hug. “I’m so happy to see you, grandma. Now daddy will have to do that trick he’s been promising to do!”
His grandmother was curious. “What trick is that, sweetie?”
The little guy grinned at her. “I heard daddy tell mommy that he would climb the gosh-darn walls if you came to visit us again!”
Ya, it’s true I think more than 42% peoples who graduate from the college is never read another books. He always be with their own college books. He/She quite happy with their own study books and always try to do something extra with their books.

Nicolas Cage Arrested…
Nicolas Cage made a big scene in the Big Easy when he was
arrested Saturday morning.
“He was running around and screaming in the street,” a
bartender at Harry’s Corner in New Orleans, reveals.
Nicolas, 47, who is filming a movie in the area, was charged
with domestic abuse and disturbing the peace after arguing
with his wife, Alice Kim, according to the New Orleans Police
Department.
The couple were fighting over which house they were renting
in the French Quarter, and Peter Bennett, a local street
performer who lives near the property, says he came home to
two cop cars on each end of his block.
“Apparently he had mistaken the house of my neighbors for the
other house up the block that he is actually renting,” he
says. “His wife was trying to persuade him from disturbing
the elderly couple who do in fact live in that house.”
Nicolas is actually renting a house three doors down,
according to Bennett. When cops arrived, the bartender says
he started to get into the back passenger-side door of the
police car.
“But the cop got out, walked around, and Nicolas ran a block
south toward the river, where he tried to get into a cab,”
he says. “There was a woman outside with a baby in her arms
shouting, ‘Please don’t hurt us.’ ”
Nicolas, who was arrested after a police officer ordered him
out of the cab, seemed to be intoxicated, according to an
inmate, who says he was in the holding area of the jail with
the actor.
“He was drunk,” the inmate says, adding that he spent the
evening chatting with sheriff’s deputies. “He wasn’t in a
cell. He was behind the counter with all the other officers.”
No one answered the door of the Cage property on Saturday
evening, and a rep for Nicolas had no comment.
Nicolas was eventually bailed out of jail by Dog the Bounty
Hunter, and he is due in court on May 31.

Right in two…
Angels on the sideline,
Puzzled and amused.
Why did Father give these humans free will?
Now they’re all confused.
Don’t these talking monkeys know that Eden has enough to go around?
Plenty in this holy garden, silly monkeys
Where there’s one you’re bound to divide it right in two.
Angels on the sideline,
Baffled and confused.
Father blessed them all with reason,
And this is what they choose?
Monkey killing monkey killing monkey over pieces of the ground.
Silly monkeys.
Give them thumbs, they forge a blade,
And where there’s one they’re bound to divide it right in two.
Monkey killing monkey killing monkey over pieces of the ground.
Silly monkeys.
Give them thumbs, they make a club to beat their brother down.
How they’ve survived so misguided is a mystery.
Repugnant is a creature who would squander the ability
To lift an eye to heaven, conscious of his fleeting time here.
Gotta divide it all right in two.
Fight till they die over sun, over sky,
They fight till they die over sea, over air,
They fight till they die over blood, over love,
They fight till they die over words, polarizing.
Angels on the sideline again,
Benched along with patience and reason.
Angels on the sideline again,
Wondering where this tug of war will end.
Gotta divide it all right in two.
Daily Comment Weirdness Report: I tried posting replies to two of Neo’s comments, and, although they appeared to post normally (moving from the dialog box to the list of comments), a few seconds later, they were gone. I have sent myself an E-mail containing the two invisible posts and I will try to post them from a non-library PC todnight. There is something seriously wrong with DISQUS.

——- 54-foot height error identifies fake ID ——-
WASHINGTON, Pa. – Police in Pennsylvania said they were tipped off to use of a fake ID when a scanner used on it read the card holder’s height as 54 feet tall. Washington police said an employee at an alcohol distributor in the city called police Saturday night when a card scanner read the height as 54 feet tall, instead of the intended 5 feet 4 inches, The Observer-Reporter in Washington, reported
Tuesday. Police said the incident led them to seize multiple fake IDs used at the establishment and most of the young people interviewed identified the same Web site as the source of the false documents. Police said the investigation was ongoing and charges were expected to be filed.
——- Long-lost twins lived 3 miles apart ——–
ROTHERHAM, England – A 67-year-old British woman separated from her twin sister at birth says a TV show found her sibling had been living just 3 miles away their whole lives. Jennifer and Judith Walton, were reunited by the producers of ITV1 series “Long Lost Family” for an episode scheduled for air April 21, said they still live in the Rotherham, England, homes they grew up in and never knew they shared the same doctor and dentist, The Sun reported Tuesday. The twins said they also found Jen worked for 40 years at the store where Judith, who was renamed Kath by her adoptive family, picked up her prescriptions. They have grandchildren in the same local drama group. The sisters had been adopted by different families at birth.
Jen said she had attempted to track her sister through social services 14 years ago, but had no success. She said it took researchers for the TV show four months to discover her sister living in the same town. “I dreamed of one day finding my sister and, because I couldn’t find her, imagined she was in Australia,” Jen said. “When I found she was ’round the corner, I felt so happy. “Now we see each other every week and pop round to each other’s home for cups of tea.”

up to witness the execution.
The last person hanged in the U.S. for being a pirate was
Capt. Nathaniel Gordon, in New York City on March 8, 1862.
Gordon had been smuggling slaves into the US.
The last person to be burned at the stake was Phoebe
Harrius. Harrius was convicted of coining false money and
was burned at the stake in front of Newgate Prison in
England in 1786.
The last public execution by guillotine was on June 17,
1939. Eugen Weidman was executed before a large crowd
in Versailles, France. The last nonpublic use of the
guillotine in France, at Baumetes Prison, in Marsailles,
was the execution of convicted murderer Hamida Djandoubi,
a Tunisian immigrant, on September 10, 1977.
During WWII Private Eddie Slovik was tried by court-martial
and sentenced to death for desertion. He was shot by his
own unit, the 28th Infantry Division, in a small town in
northeast France.
This is Test 1.
Well Camp, how are you? What’s Up? Thank you for you replies, and this goes to show the mob, or the blood lust, death, and revenge taken in man kinds own hands. Another example, this guy so deserving of this treatment and more, but who are we to take and make things right, and better by becoming the vigilante. If God was alive, and true and perfect, or way above our kind, then why does stuff like this even allowed to get started and executed, and brought out against innocent, or guilty people. Just think of Gods that can’t really be seen in the real true sense of our perception of what reality is, how can people blame or praise Gods, and make them as Scape Goats or Saviours, all depending on what the circumstances are in the here and now, or this from the past, or things that are said, or some , so many evil and bad things to come and happen to us, there always has to be someone to blame or praise, do one thing while preaching the total opposite. Well thank you sir for your time, and reply! Peace!
War and execution……….The true story of Private Eddie Slovik, played by Martin Sheen, the only US soldier executed for desertion during World War Two.…………………………………….Rest in peAce…
hanging with a pirate……….test executed/slave migrants?… :-)
Hey there LeoNard my man, so awesome to hear from you, the real story, or in this link that you have posted his execution, good but sad story, I’m at a little bit of a lose, the firing squad shot him, he falls over limb as if dead, just like that, then he starting making noises and start to move around and stir, then the video cuts off here!
That looks and sounds like Charlie Sheen.
I always loved Joan Jett, and this is a side of Miley Cyrus I could come to love and adore, these songs spoke to me my heart, spirit, and soul. They seem to fit and have things in common with me, and very well can relate, and feel that these have hit me on a personal level! Isn’t it funny or very strange how quick people are to point out the negative, or the wrongful doing, accidents, catastraphies, sins, errors, executions, hanging etc. In the Gladiator days how people would swarm, and pay to see blood, violance, harm, even death. It seems to have a very strong grip and facsination , like a moth to a flame, or bees to the target after striking their nest, like a shot, like heat seeking missles, quicker than the speed of the scene, and yet they claim to hate and detest violance, and detest, and don’t want any part of it! And if God is perfect, and forever eternal, why would he need our prayers, worship, sacrifices to such a supreme being. And why would he make such errors and mistakes in our creation, and existance, plague with suffering, pain, sorrow, death war, the lust for blood and violance and death, and even still brother against brother, to kill our own fellow man, just for money, land, oil, natural resources, and for the power and glory, and to make it into all the history books, and be hailed a hero for all to look up to and follow, or hold up as a role model?Well for the last link, and maybe another one doesn’t have anything 404 error on the last, And I can see I think it would be the third one with a black background, and scetched in green appears to be a women, but when I click on the original attachment it does bring up anything, and same thing with the last, it is hard to see and say for sure exactly what they both are, can you possibly please try to repost, or tell explain to me what they are, or both, any and all posts/replies more than welcome from you my friend! Neo Out! Peace!
The pictures speak for themselves. All information established! This 404 stuff and other associated difficulties makes for “bull-shit”!
Be good and thanks for letting me know that! jah ever use + Image?
Hello good learning from you, I never really or truly understood how, or the workings behind the + Image, I did it once, and it was completely by mistake, and had no clue or how that I did it. That was the only time! Peace to you LeoNaRD! Neo Out!
Wow what a beautiful Flower, if I can remember right aren’t they called Sun Flowers? Well anyhow thank you so much my friend for that very cool file, I just noticed and thought about on my way back through, for the more than thousands of times, I don’t know why I did stop that gem, or think of it before, All well better late than never, my cd drive just went had to go get that fixed, working on building a dog house for my sister’s new dog, was dropping off subscriptions, mainly for my mom, she has paper written subscriptions by the doctors, but at the drug store Rite-Aid they have something called an automatic prescription renewal , so I wasn’t sure if the got them refilled before I made the trip, good thing because none of them had yet to be auto refilled, better safe than sorry, and it sure did pay to do that this time! Well how you doing bro’ are you into flowers, I love to look at the, and the smell, and like flowers a lot, but I’m never very good usually at remembering their names, I just know beauty when I see that, and that one sure is way up there. Well hope to see you soon Neo! Out! Peace!
Say you’re facing the prospect of spending the night, hungry and sober, in a refrigerator box under the expressway. Would a meal and a room for the night with a shower be worth a little subcutaneous bruising to you? Apparently it is to an increasing number of homeless men in St. Petersburg.
Bizarre as this scenario sounds, this is exactly what is happening in this Florida community to men who have sold themselves as punching bags for fetish videos.
A locally operated fetish website recruits them right off the street for as little as $50. They sign a waiver and Bannermust endure at least 12 minutes of hard physical abuse from young women in bikinis (or sometimes semi-nude) including punches, kicks, knees, bondage and whipping, all in front of a video camera.
The videos sell for as little as $10.
The practice is widespread enough that local homeless
advocate G.W. Rolle said for months he noticed men walking around with black eyes, split lips and limps before he finally got someone to tell him about the “beatdowns,” as they have come to be known among the homeless.
Southern Legal Counsel, which has represented St. Petersburg’s homeless in the past, filed the suit seeking an injunction to stop the beatings, saying the men were vulnerable and desperate for money. It also seeks damages for medical costs and emotional distress.
Method Actor
A man went into the pet shop ” I am playing Long John Silver in the local amateur dramatic societies version of Treasure Island and need a parrot to sit on my shoulder” he said.
“I don’t have any parrots at the moment , but you wouldn’t want a real parrot for that. It would squawk in all the wrong places, poop on your shoulder and generally be a nuisance. What you need is a stuffed parrot . Just as realistic and easily controlled.”
“Are you sure a stuffed parrot would be okay? ” asked the customer ” I do want this performance to be as realistic as possible.”
“I am sure a stuffed parrot would be fine ” said the pet shop owner ” I have one at home . I’ll bring it in and if you come back on Thursday you can have it.”
“Sorry,” said the customer ” I can’t make it on Thursday. That’s the day I’m having my leg cut off.”
This is Test 2.
Damn my replies are just not working , I tried many times now, and no go! It had links in the posts, is that it the posts with links no longer work, is the link the link or not! Testing! Peace

We Want Better Missles
The 1982 Israeli invasion of Lebanon resulted in many dogfights between Syrian and Israeli jet fighters.
In the end, the Syrians lost over 80 planes and had a number of SAM batteries knocked out, while the Israelis lost no planes.
Sometime later, the Syrian Defense Minister was shopping for weapons in Moscow.
His host, the Soviet Defense Minister, was embarrassed about the scorecard from Lebanon.
He told his Syrian guest, “Take anything you want – our best tanks, rifles, or surface-to-air missiles.”
“No, no – you don’t understand!” the Syrian replied. “Last time you gave us surface-to-air missiles. This time we need surface-to-*jet* missiles!”
The New French Cook
The French will eat almost anything. A young cook decided that the French would enjoy feasting on rabbits and decided to raise rabbits in Paris and sell them to the finer restaurants in the city.
He searched all over Paris seeking a suitable place to raise his rabbits. None could be found. Finally, an old priest at the cathedral said he could have a small area behind the rectory for his rabbits.
He successfully raised a number of them, and when he went about Paris selling them, a restaurant owner asked him where he got such fresh rabbits.
The young man replied, “I raise them myself, near the cathedral. In fact, I have a hutch back of Notre Dame.
Speeding
A speeding motorist was caught by radar from a police helicopter in the sky.
An officer pulled him over and began to issue a traffic ticket.
“How did you know I was speeding?” the frustrated driver asked.
The police officer pointed somberly toward the sky.
“You mean,” asked the motorist, “that even He is against me?”
My Father Wouldn’t Like It
A clergyman walking down a country lane and sees a young farmer struggling to load hay back onto a cart after it had fallen off. “You look hot, my son,” said the cleric. “why don’t you rest a moment, and I’ll give you a hand.”
“No thanks,” said the young man, “My father wouldn’t like it.”
“Don’t be silly,” the minister replied, “Everyone is entitled to a break. Come and have a drink of water.”
Again the young man protested that his father would be upset. Losing his patience, the clergyman said, “Your father must be a real slave driver. Tell me where I can find him and I’ll give him a piece of my mind!”
“Well,” replied the young farmer, “he’s under the hay.”
Make Life More Enjoyable
- Old telephone books make ideal personal address books. Simply cross out the names and addresses of people you don’t know.
- Fool other drivers into thinking you have an expensive car phone by holding an old TV or video remote control up to your ear and occasionally swerving across the road and mounting the curb.
- Avoid parking tickets by leaving your windshield wipers turned to fast wipe whenever you leave your car parked illegally.
- No time for a bath? Wrap yourself in masking tape and remove the dirt by simply peeling it off.
- Apply red nail polish to your nails before clipping them. The red nails will be much easier to spot on your bathroom carpet. (Unless you have a red carpet, in which case a contrasting polish should be selected).
- If a person is choking on an ice cube, don’t panic. Simply pour a jug of boiling water down their throat and presto! The blockage is almost instantly removed.
I tried the telphone book idea, but I found it was too much work; there were tens of thousands of unlisted numbers that had to be crossed off.
Ha! Good one, know that is read between the lines, or crossing out the ones that aren’t listed even, Ha! Good Show!
Hello anyone here? I will now attempt to post somethings! Hope you like it!

When I do read, I normally read political or self-help books. But I read a novel a few months ago by Fox News legal analyst Lis Wiehl (“lease wheel”). It’s called Hand of Fate, the second part of a three-part series. It was pretty good; a worthy adventure. Part three, Heart of Ice, came out last week. I’ll be buying it soon.

flok This is a test to see if one can delete a comment from the DISQUS dashboard.
Ah, hah! The DISQUS documentation says that if you delete a comment from the DISQUS Dashboard, it doesn’t really delete it; it merely removes all identifying info from the comment, i.e. it anonymizes the comment. Thus the comment will appear as a Guest comment. That is actually what happens as you can see from the above first-level comment. This explains where all the Guest comments were coming from; hey were just comments that were deleted by the authors from the Dashboard. Thus the Delete function should really be lablelled, Anonymize. Once a comment is anonymized, it is out of the reach of the author forever (maybe M could delete it, though). Thus there is no point in using it. Further, if M desires to prohibit anonymous, comments, she has to figure out how to prevent the use of the Delete function. The lesson here is to delete a comment, you must edit it down to something with at least two characters in it, such as DC for deleted comment.
The human brain works by association. I’m not sure what effect these pictures of a reading Marilyn Monroe could possibly have other than to establish a subliminal cognitive linkage between reading books and dying young. No wonder people stop reading after college. Because they’re afraid to end up like Marilyn.
Right, @Cyberquill. The human brain works by association. I wonder if people are afraid to end up like Elizabeth Taylor too, suffering through at least 20 major operations and being hospitalized more than 70 times? Whatcha think, eh?
That’s why marriage rates are declining. People are afraid of constantly ending up in the hospital like Mr. Taylor.
Blimey! Absolutely! I can’t start to imagine how profoundly devastated Mr. Taylor must have felt when his faithful, lovely, beautiful Mrs. Taylor passed away!
Was there a Mr. Taylor at the time of her passing? I couldn’t keep up.
No idea, @Cyberquill. Perhaps a dozen or so screwed her “officially”? The other were probably “unofficial lovers”.
I wonder if Marilyn would have been reading so many books if computers were around then?
Only a small number of people maintain their integrity and know the difference between something good and something worthless. Like… I’m sure there is someone right now that might have been a famous guitar player in the future but he (or she) is playing guitar hero instead. hmmm… I think Marilyn was unbelievably talented so she would know what is worthwhile.
Who is the best guitar hero player? Who is best at farmville? Who cares.

I really like the unreleased Beatles demo’s on YouTube.
Like when they first thought of the idea for the song and recorded it.
@I think musical instruments are like drugs. People naturally gravitate to their instrument, no matter what society has to say. So, I’m hoping that no musicians are being stunted by digital gadgets. Of course, anything’s possible. Parents are the usual suspects in the wasting of
their children’s potential, which would include music, languages, martial and other arts.
@ LeoNaRD
The corporate execs have a lot to do with the squirelling away of recorded music. John Fogerty had to wait decades before he could perform the music he wrote. Zappa had some troubles with music industry goons. I was under the impression that the Beatles were in
control of most of their music, so the question is why they didn’t release some of it, since it would be guaranteed income. It’s said that
Barking Pumpkin is hoarding much of Frank’s material. But uh….to address the topic Marina started off with, it is a surprise to me that
so many don’t read books. Does listening to audio books count?
Because I want to recommend “True Grit” by Charles Portis as read
by Donna Tartt. It is probably the best audiobook I’ve ever listened to,
as I’ve already listened to it 3 times, and realize that I have to pace myself and not listen to it too often. I’ll wait until, like, October before I pop it into the computer DVD player again. It’s like candy.
I’m nearly getting anything to post/reply and stay, well over half, or way better just aren’t staying posted, they appear a first to work, then go away, Me and LeoNaRD was talking and chatting, and all of that and more seenes to have just vanished, and I seen one of my post come to the top of the lesson page, this is all to much, for me to get into or try anymore tonight, I got a few things to take care of, then I think I’m going to get some sleep, and take my perscribed medication, and I lookd like I will have to fight tooth and nail, to get get thismycleanPC and there so called experts, and trained technicians, to get this monster of a computer to run and keep running right, still eroors I find, after all was clear and okay, everything a go they tell me, I called them a total of four times, and yet to have some issues to get taken care of, that 24/7 tech support, doesn’t seem to be all that they claim it to be, the last three calls, I talked with people I could barely understand, their accents was so bad, then it takes for ever to get through this, and they just open up the gateway, or the control of my computer, for them, then when they go to switch this matter, and control over to another technician, it never works, or connects me to anyone, at lease this far, and I still got issues and errors, so it looks like I’m in for a very long bout with them to try and get this mess steaightened out. Well how you b, what have you been up to, anything on your mind, or wish to share. I’m riding into the sunset for now, calling it a day, Beddie Bows time is calling! Neo Out! Peace! I hope this makes it, been to many misfires going on, but I wish and hope that this, and others will finally function and post properly, for me and all here!
Man I having serious problems getting logged into any of my accounts, and alot of reply post, and making them and having most of them seemed to go way, ao most of that replying/posting gone to waste. I tried the help button, and offer a request for help on these manners. This has been an issue/problem ever dince I had trained technicians, and myclean PC, and all their hardware, and I think I even seen one of the using Norton as a removal tool for somethings. Ever since then I have been having a hell of a time to log in at all, I don’t have the slightest how I got this one to log in, I was logged in under my NeoTheChoosenOne, for a short period of time, tried posting some jokes, and posting replies, to Dex. LeoNaRD, VenomRock, and I’m not sure if any of them worked, or stayed posted or not, Well this is Neo Out! Peace!
Daily Comment Wierdness Report: There are 84 comments visible out of 90 posted today. The
Facebook, etc. stuff has rolled off the bottom to Never-Never Land. My reply to Dez’s day-old Nat’l Geo comment in the middle of the blog has disappeared. That means there are at least two failure mechanisms: truncating the list of comments and comments disappearing individually. I have a feeling that this is not simply to due to me using a library PC. I will be at a “civilian” PC this weekend and will take a detailed look at things and report back.

…..The Abrahamic Faith
Abrahamism is belief in the one God, creator of the universe. He is the same God of Abraham, Jesus and Muhammad.
The Jews descended from Isaac, son of Abraham by Sarah; the Muslims descended from Ishmael, son of Abraham by Hagar; the Christians spiritually descended from Jesus who came from the lineage of David who came all the way from the descendants of Abraham.

I write a column for book groups (and blog it at http://readitandreeap.blogspot.com). From what I’m getting in response, I’d say a lot of women are reading voraciously. And loving it. And somebody’s buying all those Top 10 books, and using the libraries. But they’re not in the immediate post-college set, either, and I have some doubt about them. Maybe when they get through work and little children they’ll go back to it. They’ll have missed a lot in the meantime. Readers are born, and readers are made by attentive parenting. They’d better get on the stick, if these figures are to be trusted.
hello
I only just barely got through collage and then technical school, but I ALWAYS have a book going! I may only read about 12 to 15 books a year but I couldn’t stand to not read? I guess I’m not to surprised to hear this statistic considering how poorly informed most people are on just about EVERY subject matter.
Barely got through “collage,” huh? Oh, that is rich.

John Baur (Ol’ Chumbucket) and Mark Summers (Cap’n Slappy),
International Talk Like a Pirate Day
International Talk Like a Pirate Day (ITLAPD) is a parodic holiday created in 1995 by John Baur (Ol’ Chumbucket) and Mark Summers (Cap’n Slappy), of Albany, Oregon,[1] U.S., who proclaimed September 19th each year as the day when everyone in the world should talk like a pirate.[1] For example, an observer of this holiday would greet friends not with “Hello,” but with “Ahoy, matey!” The holiday, and its observance, springs from a romanticized view of the Golden Age of Piracy
“Cap’n Slappy” and “Ol’ Chumbucket”, the founders of Talk Like a Pirate DayAccording to Summers, the day is the only holiday to come into being as a result of a sports injury. He has stated that during a racquetball game between Summers and Baur, one of them reacted to the pain with an outburst of “Aaarrr!”, and the idea was born. That game took place on June 6, 1995, but out of respect for the observance of D-Day, they chose Summers’ ex-wife’s birthday, as it would be easy for him to remember.

Well lets see if I can get a little out before my technician calls, if he doesn’t call soon, then I may have to call or contact them, you can only wait and be so long, then you got to go out and find, and try to talk and be peoples friend, I mean no harm or nothing like that, it is just the complete opposite. .Well let me see, if I can turn up something of use or entertainment value of some kind!
Dangerous Dihydrogen Monoxide
Dihydrogen monoxide is colorless, odorless, tasteless, and kills uncounted thousands of people every year. Most of these deaths are caused by accidental inhalation of DHMO, but the dangers of dihydrogen monoxide do not end there. Prolonged exposure to its solid form causes severe tissue damage. Symptoms of DHMO ingestion can include excessive sweating and urination, and possibly a bloated feeling, nausea, vomiting and body electrolyte imbalance. For those who have become dependent, DHMO withdrawal means death.
Dihydrogen monoxide:
* is also known as hydric acid, and is the major component of acid rain.
* contributes to the “greenhouse effect.”
* may cause severe burns.
* contributes to the erosion of our natural landscape.
* accelerates corrosion and rusting of many metals.
* may cause electrical failures and decreased effectiveness of automobile brakes.
* has been found in excised tumors of terminal cancer patients.
CONTAMINATION IS REACHING EPIDEMIC PROPORTIONS!
Quantities of dihydrogen monoxide have been found in almost every stream, lake, and reservoir in America today. But the pollution is global, and the contaminant has even been found in Antarctic ice. In the midwest alone DHMO has caused millions of dollars of property damage.
Despite the danger, dihydrogen monoxide is often used:
* as an industrial solvent and coolant.
* in nuclear power plants.
* in the production of styrofoam.
* as a fire retardant.
* in many forms of cruel animal research.
* in the distribution of pesticides. Even after washing, produce remains contaminated by this chemical.
* as an additive in “junk-foods” and other food products.
Companies dump waste DHMO into rivers and the ocean, and nothing can be done to stop them because this practice is still legal. The impact on wildlife is extreme, and we cannot afford to ignore it any longer!
THE HORROR MUST BE STOPPED!
The American government has refused to ban the production, distribution, or use of this damaging chemical due to its “importance to the economic health of this nation.” In fact, the navy and other military organizations are conducting experiments with DHMO, and designing multi-billion dollar devices to control and utilize it during warfare situations. Hundreds of military research facilities receive tons of it through a highly sophisticated underground distribution network. Many store large quantities for later use.
IT’S NOT TOO LATE!
Act NOW to prevent further contamination. Find out more about this dangerous chemical. What you don’t know CAN hurt you and others throughout the world.
(Note: Dihydrogen monoxide is another way of saying H20, or just plain water)
A Sacramento lady died because she ingested too much DHMO in a radio station contest as reported in this strange tale.
Hello Camp, how are you as of late? What’s up? I’m still not sure if posting and reling issues are fix, yet or not. But I will give it after many tries another one! Thank you Neo out ZPeace!
I think the best thing to do when we find software misbehavior is not to just complain about it, but to test and document the problem as best as we can so that there is a chance of getting someone to fixs it.

Yes sir I totally agree, what’s up, how have you been, long time no hear! I’m was getting used to, and loved talking, chatting, communicating, and being as friends, sharing, and working together and having fun once upon a time, when we still had the old group, I still keep thinking it as forum, I still can’t get that thought out of my head for some reason, I thought we where cool, and had different likes and tastes in common, and I miss not being able to talk and communicate. Whatever happened to that? Just wondering and curious, and concerned over this matter, and you, yes I care and wonder, and feel for you my friend. Well whatever, hear from you soon, or not I keep trying to communicate with you. I still have as of to yet, to see that Battle For L.A. See I go listen and remember, the best that I possibly can! I’m not really surprised by those statistics. TV and the internet probably plays a major factor with this although you can still get some valuable information from them.
Mostly what I’ve read lately is work related. I wouldn’t really call it fun reading it’s just something that’s a part of my job.
I’d say some of the music I listen too like METAL has had an influence on me as far as what I like to read for fun. A lot of them artists attribute H.P. Lovecraft’s works as the inspiration for their lyrics. Others I like would be Edgar Allen Poe, Stephen King and Clive Barker’s “The Hellbound Heart” and “Books of Blood.” Unfortunately a lot of the movies that were made based upon these have been a letdown for me, especially for Lovecraft. They come across as totally campy. I feel like the films for “Re-animator” or “Beyond the Wall of Sleep” sort of diminishes his work. It’s the same with Clive Barker but not as bad. Some of the ones for Stephen King worked for me like “The Shining” or “The Green Mile.” When they say that the book is better than the movie that’s so true when it comes to the Horror genre.
Maybe I can agree with that phrase “But high-school and college ruined the enjoyment of reading books for me!” I remember back in school having to read so called classics like The Red Badge Of Courage or The Great Gatsby. I found these to be extremely boring.

Why choose…. ;D
Awesome dude! Now that is right up my alley, so awesome, so cool, all that art work , I’m pretty sure there was different ones that I can’t remember seeing, And have read, the Cthulu stories, and did many searches on the artwork, and stuff pertaining to it, I’m not even sure if any of the ones that where around, and available I think I share them with you, and a few others awhile back now, I think we had and was in great company, of the Late and departed Karl A.K.A. Claus was a part of this, and loved and seemed to have this in common, Oh that was a grate and lovely time. I will now pay my respects to H.P. Lovecraft, and Karl, may they R.I.P. Gone, but not forgotten, I would talk or go into this more, but that is up to you and others if you want or feel a need, or a love, passion, want to do so. I’m not even sure if I could find, or any of those older videos I unearthed and shared about this topic long ago, do or would even still exist. I don’t think I can top, or add to much more after that tribute, It has used all, and more of art, and Metallica song one of the coolest song, and ever so fitting for this type of video/tribute. I can say that H.P. Lovecraft, and those other ones you mentioned and more, I go love and adore. Wow I’m up for or game of more about this and many subject, I been saying, and making it quite well know, that I love, and is my passion, and closest to my heart , that most other subjects and manners, That is what I think bases most of my music, books, video games, movies, A very big, and well loved theme. Let the Horror and Metal Reign Forever! Peace
Wow, that’s really cool you remember that. :)
What’s this you mere mortals speak, of H.P. Lovecraft, He and many others have fallen and become a servant to me, or death is what I greet disobedience and the ignoring of my real and true power, stronger than any other God, I come from the stars, and have sleep in the ocean depths for way to long, someone has awoken and provoked me from my peaceful slumber, now the world has got to pay, and understand, and come to believe and see me as your real and true ruler of the universe, and many planets, even this little rock you puny humans call earth. So VR are you among the faithful? Either bow, or your death is at hand, you and many others have called me from the depths, and now I’m alive and awakened to rule and strike fear in the hearts of men, and any others dare test or question me, shall see the ultimate ruler of them all! And all the rest will fall!!!
ha ha that’s Cool.

Can he see or is he blind?
Can he walk at all

Jim Dandy to the rescue.
….Dude, are you going for the record for having the most profiles on here?
I’m trying with all my might, and being to entertain, and remain faithful to myself, characters, and most importantly, my best friend, and the rest here at Hot For Words, trying any and all ways to keep some people around to share the love, friendship, peace, and everything we together worked so hard for and should learn to appreciate each other and be like friend, talking, communicating, sharing, caring, I’m trying to get into characters and subjects to keep my best friends and others around. I would do anything to keep you and others as friends, so I push myself to the limits, and go way beyond, I would run a hundred miles just to make you smile. Well since we seem bound to the only way to communicate in the here and now, with good friends, this is the only place that I know of or can meet any of you, since other means of communication, seem to be out of the question, or beyond our and others to try and get together with my friends, I would lay down my life for you, I have reached beyond reachable stuck my neck out till it was broken, bent over backwards, sold my soul, I gave it all my flesh/body, mind, soul, spirit. I feel and bielieve me and you best friends forever no matter what you, or anyone else could ever do or say to change it, and any others that want to come aboard and join me Neo, one the Crazy Train of life, life is way to short to hold back, and stop and fellow persons love and friendship, it should be there to cherish, respect, and dwell in each others companionship. I mean it I laid it all out and more.
Damn my grammar and spelling anyhow, and whoops I did forget to make paragraphs, that is a very hard habit for me to brake, I just let it go and flow, and that is the only way I know to remain truthful, faithful, and honest, and true with you my best friend, and any other takers that have or will join with me in some way, shape or form, I think nothing should stop, or halt our friendships whatsoever, the greatest gift for human kind a treasure beyond measure, a bond that should be praise and raised above all else. A bond that can’t, nor ever try to be broken. Do you think I could get a record with all my accounts? Ha! Ha! LOL! Just kidding you my friend! I will never stop or give in, there is no end or way to shake me, I’m always there for you, and whom ever else dare to take the risk. All I do, I do it for you!!! No Fooling, no lying I swear it on my very life and soul, I would give it all , and more I do implore. Oh and Venom, I have forgot you or anyone here. I’m still working on that Maiden Tribute, it has grown it one of the biggest beast, and still is growing way out of control, I’m nearing the end, but I got and unearthed so many artwork, probably 50 pages or more worth, and I still can’t find places, or a situation to put them to proper use, many of them I didn’t find until I had already done and finished on those albums, with those themes, or thinds I’m still not sure what to do, or use them I have clogged this up pretty good, some albums more than others, some albums or songs just seemed to have a lot to have and find, and use, just at the proper time I thought, I’m saving all the extra songs, rarities, B Sides, and the like to use toward the end, and all this art work, I probably could make a great big tribute to Eddie, Maiden, and all the artist that made one of the best and most true beat of a metal band ever. What do you or anyone else think, I would like to hear from you, your feedback, thoughts, ideas, anything on your mind, or others minds! Asta La Vista Baby!!!
Oh I nearly forgot, where was my mind and my manners, very cool Iron Man, I loved that song since I was a young one, and always will! Thank you for all the beautiful, lovely music videos, and some thoughts and insites, only Nicolas Cage Arrested…
Hunter, and he is due in court on May 31.
enom Rock could come up with, maybe you got something there with your Mac, it doesn’t seem to be a problem or issue, or at least that I ever remember you saying, or stating about! I probably couldn’t afford it, or even the lifetime thing you where telling me something about the other day, your faith and wanting to come here is all up to you, but I can only hope and pray that you also don’t lose faith and great friends go away and just die, just to beautiful, and precious thing to waste, you are a great part of me, my life’s blood, you go away and that part goes with it, I can’t help it man those are my real and true feelings, emotions, for this friendship and you to go, would be like tearing out my heat, and soul right along with it. I think and feel we fought and held on in the true name of friendship to just let it all go. Please don’t leave me, or take me with ya! A way to always stay connected and bonded for life, it is the greatest and truest, and realest thing I ever felt, or hade in my life, please tell me that you wouldn’t just go and leave a very good and faithful, and most loyal, and humble. I know I got my faults and vices, I’m also a bastard, a son of a bitch, one bizarre mixed up mother fucker, but I do, and think all should look past all the faults, errors, and mistakes, and find the Sacred Heart or our real true selves through the mightest power, that there is friendship, and all the parts that form and make it! Which character do you like best, or do you like me switching or changing, or does it matter to you? Well Hope to see you soon Neo! Out! So Long My Best Friend, I hope this is not the first nor the last time we meet. Well back to the gringstone on that Maiden Tribute that I promised to you, I might have to go with the albums, and make or create seperate thinds at some other date, I just don’t know what to do or how to put to use most of my findings and work, this has got to be the biggest, baddest beast I ever created. It’s Alive, It’s Alive! Well for the full length studio album I’m just starting to close in on the end of them, not including all the extra, artwork, and songs, wow, I never thought it would take so long and be such a different at least keep your faith in friends and family, and most important, yourself!!! Come on back please m y greatest friend ever! Please don’t let all we have worked for and gained, just drift away and die, or burn up, and just fade away! Anyway G’Day Mate!
I think I might have been coming across the wrong way here judging by what you’ve written here. I should’ve put “just kidding” at the very end of my reply. Sorry about that Neo and no apology needed for your grammar or whatever. I can make out what you’re saying. :)
I put that song Iron Man in my comment because I feel like I can really relate to that when I’ve been here on this site lately. I would say don’t let your emotions affect what you do on here but I guess I’ve been there too bro. This site could eat you up if you let it.;)
One thing, you have noticed the actual lessons from Marina seem to be getting a far and few. I read something from PageDoll on “Meet Colleen, The Pickup Chick” post in the comments section. He’s probably onto something. I think he would have a good feeling about what could be going on cos he’s been around here for awhile. I think you’ve been here for awhile too and so have I and I noticed what he’s talking about. (A link I created with PageDoll’s name might work when you expand my profile by clicking on my avatar and viewing this comment in the Activity section, that is if it doesn’t work here).
Here’s something strange with this disqus commenting system. I have a notification from you in my email and this is one of the links you put in it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UonmopFossY
there’s a few others from this band and one from Bon Jovi. When I clicked on the link to come here from my email your comment is nowhere to be found here?
…anyway I’ll try to keep the faith, I hear what you’re saying.
btw awesome job with Maiden! {Killers} B-) m/
I had a lot to talk to you about and almost all of it got cut off, and blurred right into my next post in line about Nicholas Cage, now what the hell is going on. Man I just poured out my heart and soul. And it mostly just went away, and now I can’t get it back. Well as long as we and you have faith in friends, family, and ourselves, and can and hope to always remain a part of your life, for me it will always be so, are you still shying away from other means of communications, I can’t make you, or force you, nut I just don’t know whatever I would do with out you, and others. Losing you would be like loosing apart, of my very heart and soul. Well I’m not even sure if this will take, and can’t remember the little that somehow strangely did. And only VenomRock could come up with that! Ha! Ha! LOL! Trying to break a record! Do you have one you like more, or like my switching around, I do it all yo please and entertain and connect, and dwell in our friendship, and similarities, and our likes, and the possitive, and what really matters above all else, and that is friendship, family, ourselves be true! Well maybe I should you may not like it, but this seems to be a fitting song to me and all the troubles with links in a reply for me.
Keep The Faith

Rhythm Amongst the Chaos
Arms of the Truth
Oh and Maiden Tribute I promised to bring to you in the forum, I didn’t break it, I’m still working on it, it will truly be the biggest, baddest, largest, most out of control beast I have ever worked on or created yet, for the full length albums I’m nearing the end of them, but it is taking way longer than I ever thought or planned, I still got some much artwork and extra rarities, B Sides, and all that great stuff that I haven’t even used or touched yet. Now I’m at a loss at what to do with most of what I have I will deliver, the only question is when, Should I at least finish my job on the full length studio albums I forgot to add I did use other sources some live songs ans material, some songs that very redone, or a remake, as I tried to stay true and go with Bruce when ever I could I love all of Maidens works, albums, songs, singers, it is just I love Bruce and how the band seems so fitting to him, and him being there and the most longest and it seems to me the more loyal, or needed,Blaze Bailey, And Paul made on hell of a go and tried, and gave it their all, but I guess I’m just Bruce prejudice, he was the first singer I growed up on, the first album I got and had at a very early age was Power Slave so does that explain maybe why, and all my friends dug Maiden and Bruce very much, or what I got art and things for the B Sides, extra songs and rarities that weren’t originally release on the studio albums, but where released as the other side of the main single being presented, and for a very brief time they did include these rare songs, very limited time if I remember right.. I would like to know your thoughts about it, and what you think that would be best to do, I got somethings to do, and when in the forum it can be hard to find and reply right away or notice it very easily, if you respond, and the reply works, I should get the notice in my main email account, but I don’t always get my notices, but it is working a lot better than before. I will get back to you as soon as I can, and hope to hear and see from you when you are able to my friend! Bye Bye! Well I will get back to that maiden tribute, that has grown right out of hand and work on it as much as I possibly can. I started having that same issues as before, the cursor just shipping on ahead in mid-word, or sentence, and mixed up a lot of sentences and words, and had to go back through and try my best to make it readable, or at least understood for the most part I hope, I would miss you here, but even more over all a friend al aroung, forever, together as Best friends, To this I hold True and sacred, even though I’m a sinner, and many things, that is what i think and call and claim and look as friendship as being forgivefull, forgetting overlooking all the minor and major problems, that I and most of humanity have or possess, maybe me more than some, but that is only the false or negative side of me, only a small fragment, in the overall scheme of things, compared, to Love, Peace and each and every single little thing that makes up friendship, it is indeed a very small, and unimportant thing to look at, or hold onto, or only look and see the negative, or the bad side, I’m may to straight forward, and let my emotions and thoughts to just flow, right or wrong, good or bad, good or evil, sociable or unsociably, to raw and blunt, and maybe a little to much in your face or extreme, but alas these are just me, I have and now or have known people with similarities or some of the very type of habits, issues, problems, sins, errors, missing the mark, being politicially incorrect, or sociably incorrect , but these are my problems, issue that I myself must bare and face, and friend and family can make those issues and problems seem like nothing compared to friendship. I have my vices, but let me ask who doesn’t, only maybe in a lesser or bigger only in degrees. Well I’m a take it or leave it, show you what to expect, from the real me, and the error full side of me, it is there, and I think and believe it can’t be totally destroyed or erased, to do so, I think you would have to destroy yourself, to even come close to get rid of any parts of one self, and who knows does it continue and keep going the same for eternity, or do we evolve or change to a lesser or greater entity, do we have a say or call in the matter at all. Do we just die and that is it? I like to think not, Ashes to Ashes, Dust To Dust, From Dust we were made, and Dust we shall become, but does that stop us, from living on somehow, or not, well sorry for going on. See you soon I hope, or when ever it is possible for you!
This was or is is a very small thing compared to what I originally made typed out for you, and errors and things popping up on me again it is making it even harder to talk and communicate, replies not posting, and others issues I have stated or mention, now or before. Bye!
Yes it is all very awesome and good with me, Hey there Mr. LeoNaRd, it has been a little to long hearing from you as of late, We b cool and friends, right?. I say and think, and believe we are, so get on back to me when or if you possibly can, Any issues or problems, we can talk and work out anything! Cheers, yo you my great friend, kick-ass and great and wonderful stuff you 2 dudes bringing up! Don’t hesitate, or even think twice, lets just talk and communicate, and do all the things good friends do. I would like to share and talk to you about these and many thin gs, I waited with no luck, so if the mountain will not come.. Well I think you got the picture. Hope to see you soon, All the love and peace in the world I send, or wish for you, Neo Out!

I will march on to victory!!!…
I think what you have stated is very much true , Oh and if you and others don’t know I like and agree with most of what you liked, or mentioned, The Hellbound Heart was the beggining of the start of the Hell Raiser series if I can remember right. I loved the Books Of Blood, The whole series was outstanding, and some of the most excellent reading I came across, did you know that they made a movie based off of The Midnight Meat Train, I thought it was cool, and very good. They could have, or may adapt more to the screen later on, If there are anymore that they have already made, then I’m not aware, or heard of them, Oh wait a minute, I just happened to remember I think also Raw Head Rex was also, take from the Books Of Blood to the screen. The newer Books of Blood, were just copies and reprints of others books already published with or only just the name is different, but the books are the same , as far as I can tell. So that was a waste to recopy the old and different named books with short stories, and just change the name to make them a part, or seem like the Bloods Of Blood series, and they were not originally, meant, or intended to do so earlier on in Clive’s early days. I love most of Stephen Kings Books, some of his movies, or T.v. Mini-Series I also love H.P. Lovecraft Written stories/books, but most of the movies, games, and such was a very big dissapointment to me compare to the original awesome, and one of the most talented man in his profession. I think out of all the mess, Dagon was a little bit better than most tries and attempts by many tried, and badly failed I think, I got a Cthulu or how ever you spell it the game, wasn’t very good, or enjoyable for me any how I think it was call The Dawn Of Cthulu for the PC. Edgar Allen Poe another awesome choice, I love nearly all hid written stories/books, the trying to repeat and capture Poe’s original, and very clever, entertaining, eerie, and chilling, sort of like a murder/suspense, and many factors, the horror, and mystery. And yes the internet, and technology I think as well also plays a big factor in reading, e-books, just listen, Movies, Video Games,Cell-Phone, I-Pads, and so many things to distract and keep more and more people away from books, I was forced to read, and do book reports, on a lot of stuff I didn’t like or care for much, and got little rewards if you read so many, I think the prize was a 1 small personal pan pizza from Pizza-Hut. I used to hate reading manly because of this. I later on in life had a big habit of reading, but over time, and technology, it has once again seemingly for the most part have taken me away from reading very much if at all anymore, So I think and say that Venom, and many others, I guessing Marina wrote this lesson, I agree with the lesson’s point only all to well. Yes brother Venom it seems to me we have a lot more in common than what I had thought before, I have been working on my metal tribute to Maiden in your forum, it’s underway, but along way still to go, man is this going to be huge, I got many problem, and issues with my computer and stuff, first I shelled out nearly 60.00$ for that and it would fix most of what I need to be corrected, or at least temperarerly , I tried just for the hardware, and nothing else it was nearly 40.00$ just for that, but to get tech support, and other features, for just one computer, for a year it costs me over 300.00$ to get the remaining full and optimum services, which they just happened to forget or mention, that you would be paying a lot more, hidden or secret expresses to get the total package and for only a year, They told me Norton fixed or did so little, that it was amazing my computer was still running, I tried through Alienware, and Dell Tech support to fix different issues at different times, but Alienware, only had a limited time for free use of their tech support, and after that were talking big bucks just for a regular call, say like those toll call numbers, for just like 20 minutes in would have cost in the hundreds of dollars. I called MyCleanPC, and asked , and we had a very long discussion , and they where trying to see me from 1-3 year deals, and up to 1-3 computer deals, they told me, and stated that taking it to a computer shop, would be a lot more money, and even if they did fix it, it would only be temp fix, and if the same or other issues ever popped up again , that I would have to pay the full charges and amounts all over again. regardless if it was a preexisting, or the same type of issues before, so I had had to make some kind of decision as what to do, I finally since I already bought the software, to but the whole deal for one year and one computer, I can call them 24/7 and they are supposed to help me with any and all troubles or issues that will happen from now and up until the year ends, then I think I can renew it, I spent hours yesterday, the day, afternoon and night, just talk and trying to find and decide whether or not to buy any thing further from them or not, I figured sleep on it, and talk to some people about it, and finally decided to keep going with them, they can take control of my computer and fix, or do stuff, if I don’t understand or know how to do or fix things, so most of today I have spent many phone calls, and computer searching and looking, and helping out here and there, when they hit a block, or some issue I had to do on my end, as to so they could keep going, and fixing and what all, it was all day and afternoon, and I still have some issues or problems, they claimed and said that on these they would be back with me with one of their technicians to call back, and fix all the rest, and they claimed or said it would only be a minute or so, and its been hours now, when they call, or have me do a few things, or take complete control of my computer, I can’t use it at all. So I’m trying to talk to you, quick before they might come around, and call, and have my computer down for hours at a time, for the million of times already, so for the last few days, and it could, or may continue to extent into the after or night, it all depends when or even if they get back to me, and how much is wrong, or what else they can supposedly fix. And during these very long and involved, phone calls, and there fixing sessions, have had me tied up for a very long time, I just happened to have found a window, how long that may last, now, and other times, who knows if I will even be able to use or access my computer, even if I wanted to. Which I’m going threw withdrawal, I hope they didn’t or don’t delete my saved files on my Maiden Tribute for the forum, if they did, I will be very pissed and mad, I can only cross my fingers and hope for the best, Well good seeing you, and LeoNaRd, and others either here now, or could be was know. I just happened to remember, I suck very much at grammar, and spelling, and indenting, or making paragraphs, and writing in different say regular way, the cursif or how ever you spell it, I keep get lost, and just keep going on, if I stop and pause, then so do I, I know it is a bad habit, that I want and will work on trying to fix or change, me and my problems, Well I don’t just type this way on purpose, it is just the way I operate, or function, how I type, and write, or communicate, Well it has been very fun , and a blast to get to see you posting, and being able to communicate, that is if there still isn’t issues, or if your busy, or just not on now, or who knows when, you or, anyone maybe able to talk with me, well when it is possible, then see and talk to you then, All the Love and Peace, in the world I send your way, this is Neo! Out! Well I hope I made the right and proper decisions toward my computer, that very evil and malicious male, ad-ware, and the protection, and functionability of my computer, and the possibilities of infecting others, with my knowledge, I don’t believe or condone or hacking, or planting a bug and virus, in no way, shape , or form what so ever. And my personal info, and I’D. and each and every little piece that some no good dirty hacker, trying to ruin my computer, and me right along with it. And unexspectingly, or knowing, infecting, and spreading this virus hack, or whatever to pass on to others, with my knowledge, or even knowing, or having any clue or knowledge, or doing any type of thing like this. Well for the money I put out, All is I can say it better work, and if what they said and claim of Norton, it is next to worthless pretty much, so I spent 60 or so, on that, and can’t bring it back, or return it know, no matter if I wanted to or not. I’m stuck with it, and the money I shelled out for it as well is just gone. I hope after these first sessions that fixing, and needing them to solve any and all of my computer issues, maybe this will put a stop, and quit getting so much errors, viruses,male-ware, and other garbage I get, most of it without, knowing, or having any clue that I did. Well all the best to you and yours! Bye!
I think the movies for “Hellraiser” and “The Midnight Meat Train” do justice for the original stories. They’re easily the best adaptation from book to film even though the ending for “The Midnight Meat Train” is better in the book than the movie in my opinion. Those two films I think are the best so far probably because Clive had a direct correlation with them. The funny is though the movie for Hellraiser II: Hellbound I find to be slightly better than Hellraiser. I think it was just some expanded ideas Clive had for his book The Hellbound Heart but he never actually written a book for that but just decided put them in a movie instead. He also didn’t direct the second film like he did with the first one but he did have a lot of input with the sceenplay.
Rawhead Rex hmmm….The story is great in the Books of Blood. The film that was made from it well, it just plainly sucks. Clive even disowned that one. I find that with the Hellraiser series with all the sequels that have been done so far unfortunately has turned into like the Freddy or Jason series. It’s other people in the film industry that have taken Clive’s ideas and wanting to make a quick buck. It happens all the time especially with H.P. Lovecraft’s stories and poems. A lot movies based on Lovecraft’s stories aren’t even remotely faithful to his original works. I don’t know, I’m not a film maker and I guess it’s easy to be a critic but maybe the movie making industry should look at other areas for talent like maybe they can hire the person who made this. It’s kind of primitive but I think they definitely get what Lovecraft is about.
Check this:
This Academy Award winning artist claims to be influenced by Lovecraft, and yet his number of Lovecraftian pieces of art are very few.
James Sharp posted a comment above here about Marilyn and if computers were around back then.
I read that H.P. Lovecraft hated interacting with people in general and he preferred communicating through letters even with people that were close by. He probably would’ve loved the internet if it was around back then.
I’m kinda trippin’ on your story about the part when you were forced to read and do book reports and getting rewards like a pizza if you read so many? I’m assuming that’s when you were in school. When I was in school we didn’t have any rewards given to us for reading books for say like literature class that we were required to take. We just got graded by the teacher. Damn, I think this is the most I’ve ever written for a comment on here.
Well Neo, this was some of my thoughts and opinions to your reply here which was a lot for me to digest but it’s cool. B-)

Well lets see if this will go through, I hard at work on my maiden Tribute, it has grown into the biggest hardest beast to try and get it under some type of control, the art I amassed could very well alone fill pages upon pages, And I’m still not quite half way of so I would guess on it. I’m taking some time out to reply to you, and my friends here at HotForWords. Well Hope to see you soon! Peace!

Daily Comment Wierdness Report: There are 52 comments presently in this blog and all are present and correct (or at least as correct as they normally get around here :-) ). However, I just checked Brand New and only 11 comments out of 458 are visible, so the disappearing comments problem is still with us.
Marina, as you said you liked the idea, I hope you will be able to set up blogs for we nerds to keep track of stuff like this without cluttering up the lessons. I don’t like the forum for most things as it stands, because we can’t update posts due to the short edit window. Is there any possibility of setting the window to infinity? That would make it work for maintaining informational posts without reposting things over and over.
While on the subject of the forum, why is the index layed out the way it is? For example, all the topics under YouTube – Videos aren’t related to YouTube at all. There should be some way to edit the index and put things where they logically belong; in other words, clean up the mess! It looks to me that if we everybody keeps putting topics in the forum like they have been, it is just going to get worse over time. Perhaps it is the way the instructions were written:
White background on computer screens make text tedious to read. Dull green is a better color. It’s easier on the eyes.
Yeah, that is why books generally have green paper in them. :-)
Most of the books I read have blue pages.

Here’s something funny… Someone said this about Trusty…
If you think about it… that is actually one the few movie roles she could not have done.
The book/movie was written by a Russian, it is based in Russian, everyone in it is Russian…
but they (in the movie) all speak without any accents. So if they threw a real Russian girl in there (with an accent) it would blow the continuity.
Anyone see the point? If someone/anyone spoke with a Russian accent they would instantly become the only Russian in the film.
Dr Zhivago walks hundreds of miles through 5 feet of snow and arrives at Lara’s and she speaks with a Russian accent? Everyone would be thinking… what’s up…? He is an American Doctor and he found himself a hot Russian babe in Siberia?

I can imagine her as Tatiana, the femme fatale counterpart to James Bond in the movie “From Russia with Love.”
I can just see Bond trying to disarm a nuke with 23 seconds to go, while M is explaining the origins of all the words printed on the control panel.
I hope the bomb has at least 5 minutes on its counter then, or there will be a big-badda-BOOM!
If it’s a good enough book, I’ll wait for the movie. I lost interest in reading once I had to wear reading glasses.
Nothing wrong with “picture books.” I consider National Geographic to be a very good read, with outstanding pictures on every page.
The above pictures are right up my alley. I used to have 2 or 3 books going at once. I have never read a novel or science fiction. I read informational things, or famous writing, and sometimes a textbook. I’ve never been ashamed about reading and looking at *picture* books.
I really love your words on the topic here.
You hit the nail squarely on the head.
But one book, The Bible, is a chore to read and yet worth while to read.
The benefit of reading it word by word, verse, chapter, book come only after you put the time to read it.
Not enjoyable, but long term beneficial.
I like what the whole tells me and not any one specific section or story.
Hey, Wetsuit5: just reading into what keeps peoples interest..is it a race thingy or tribal like? when were the different chapters and stories told, put on paper? ..who, what or was responsible(accountable) for such a {VAGUE} “book-title”… http://respondingtoskeptics.wordpress.com/2007/08/20/old-testament-god-vs-new-testament-god/

Boy LeoNaRD, talk about hitting the nail on the head! I have a book(and yep, I’ve read it) called “120 Band Books”. It claims that “it(the Bible) is among the most censored books in history.” “It has been translated more times and into more languages than any other and has outsold every book in the history of publishing.” “In the English language alone, some 450 different versions are in print.” “The long history of Bible censorship has had little impact on its availability and influence today”. For me I always think, either ya participate or ya don’t. I don’t expect anybody to follow my ideas, and I expect that courtesy in return. The lasers of enlightenment, or, if we could just evolve it to a florescent bulb.
It is believed by some scholars that an appreciation of English literature is impossible without an understanding of the Bible, so powerful and pervasive is its influence.
So are the scholars saying that if I was a Buddhist and attending college and I wanted to take an English Lit. class, I couldn’t appreciate or understand the writings without first taking a Bible study class? And if I recall correctly, a lot of the writers were extremely anti-religious and even militant atheists. Some of them even burned right along with their books. What’s even more curious is the ones that were doing the burning, were the ones reading the Bible. I do not dislike the Bible. I just observe that people who constantly have their nose in it, never take the time to look up and see what is truly presented before them. I was thinking about this thread while I was doing things today and I chuckled to myself, “I wonder if Jesus would read the Bible?” Then I thought, “I wonder if He could read?”
Yes, Jesus read. It’s in the new testament that he was found doing a reading in the temple.
I went down to my personal library to find my Bible. I must have taken it literally when it read “take what you have and give it to the poor.” So I looked it up on line and came to a biased sight that said Joseph(offered up tomb) was the one who taught Him how to read and write. I find it more humanizing to have Mary sitting next to His bed as a child reading, “See Judas run. Run, run, run. See Thomas doubt. Doubt, doubt, doubt.” And I never forget that the Bible was not available in His time.
Joseph of Arimathea not only gave his tomb, but went to Pilate to ask for the body of Jesus, in order to place him in that tomb. There is absolutely nothing in the NT that suggests that he was the teacher of Jesus. It is much more likely that he was a disciple of Jesus. Though we have no evidence for how he learned, it was common practice to learn from one’s father, or a Rabbi in the community. Until he was of age to learn to read, he would have been taught his faith, his culture, his morality, from his parents, by seeing it modeled by and hearing it from them… as it is with most children. “Faith comes by hearing…” And there was a Bible in his day… just not the NT. And that Bible was of immense importance to him and his teaching, for he refers to that Bible time and time again. His defense, during his time of temptation by Satan in the wilderness, was quoting the Torah. What will blow your mind is that the Rabbis teach that there has been an Oral Torah that is as old, if not older, than the written Torah. I think it’s possible that you’re making the mistake of sentencing the Bible for the actions and manipulations of evil men.
The drawback of looking online for Bible scholarship is that you’re more likely to find a nut-job with an agenda than honest info. The great part about having a written Bible is that by studying it, one is able to identify and avoid these nut-jobs. It’s easier to corrupt, and harder to defend, a purely oral tradition. A friendly bit of unsolicited advice… be careful about where you look for Biblical info. When someone (like me), or some site (like the wacky one you mentioned), tries to sell you a theory about the Bible, check that info against the Bible.
I agree with your assessment of some people with their noses in their holy books, but this is a common human fault and not particular to Jews or Christians. Also, I think you misunderstand my use of the word “appreciate.” I do not use it to mean “enjoy” or “be grateful for,” but rather, “recognize the full weight/worth of.” I would completely expect a Buddhist, without a western upbringing, to miss the meaning of much symbolism, allegory, etc. in English Lit. But I do not believe such a person would necessarily need to take a Bible class to attain understanding. Even once such a student began to grasp Biblical imagery, he would then need to turn to Greco-Roman mythology.
Jewish men of the 1st century were quite literate. Many spoke 3 languages (Hebrew, Aramaic, and Koine Greek) and could write in at least one language. It has been the custom for millennia in Jewish society to teach all males coming of age to read, so that they may know the Torah, be considered to be partakers of the Covenant, and have the right/privilege to read the scriptures before their people. Some scholars believe that this practice goes back to the days of the Babylonian captivity (6th to 5th centuries BC). That custom evolved during the great diaspora (after Emperor Hadrian put down the Bar Kochba revolt in 135 AD and forbade the Jews to live in Judea) into the rite of passage known as Bar Mitzvah (Son of the Commandment). The custom also served to keep the Hebrew language alive, if only in religious services and celebrations. In the Gospel of Luke 4:16-30, we can see that Jesus is in his “hometown” of Nazareth, on the Sabbath (Saturday for gentiles), reading in the synagogue (as was his right as a Jewish man of that community). He read from a passage of the prophet Isaiah, a very large “book” with portions written in Hebrew and others in Aramaic.
Theology is great. The study of Religion will certainly help in understanding cultures. But the stories, legends, myths, (sometimes facts) of the Bible will not be effective unless you are willing to live it. I’ve personally met 3 people who do live it(and 2 of them do not read the Bible). Jesus says it best, “we are like sheep without a shepard.”
You’ve summed up quite well the teaching from the Epistle of James. His most known quote is, “Faith without works is dead.”
If you can read the Bible without a dictionary your either VERY smart or your missing a lot of it’s flavor in the words. Try the word “Know”.
You want that in Greek or Hebrew? Just kidding… Biblical scholarship requires many different resources. I try not to rely on memory. I use a variety of lexicons, commentaries, grammar books, etc. Sometimes I have found that I have delved into so many resources that I have forgotten what I was originally researching. One resource that is quite useful is a concordance. Most like Strong’s Concordance. I prefer Young’s Analytical Concordance. One must also put aside pride, particularly intellectual pride. I “know” quite a bit more than most on this subject; but I also “know” that I barely know anything at all. Some profound bits of knowledge cannot be garnered from a book, but must be experienced. Go to a Seder (Passover meal) and (if you can stay awake [small joke]) see your understanding of Exodus and the Gospels expand a hundredfold.
Girl patrick, talk about drilling the nail into a plank and bolting it with a nut! ..my backyard and burried bulbs and roots too.

Deviants!:) So, if Christ was at the library and was looking at 450 English versions of the Bible, I wonder which one He would check out? Or, would he shove the book back on the shelf and say, “this book is nothing more than a man made breeding ground for human division.” Sometimes it is good to kick the money table over and see which way the coins roll.
To many, the origin of the Bible can be summed-up as follows: “A mere translation of a translation of an interpretation of an oral tradition” – and therefore, a book with no credibility or connection to the original texts.

That’s quite a good article, though I chuckle at the love/wrath statistics. If one translates the Hebrew word “chesed” (one of a few words for “mercy”) to its closest English equivalent, one will find it is a very powerful word, meaning both “loving kindness” and “unmerited favor.” I wonder if that might modify the statistics somewhat.
I love reading, although I am primarily a non-fiction fan. Audio books have really made this pastime more doable as well, my rides to and from work, are almost exclusively spent “reading.” I always have 3 or 4 sitting close to my desk, just waiting their turn.
Hey, are you gonna tell me that all those MM photos are copyright-free? Where did the come from?
Dear Marina,
Those statistics are shocking. I read dozens of books per year, just to be a better employee. After graduation, all technology (microelectronics, computer science, consumer electronics) changed so much, I constantly read to keep up-to-date. Of course, I read business subjects, such as economics, marketing, total quality management, emotional intelligence, and lots of self-help books. Also, I have a collection of books on dieting and weight loss (not that they do me much good), and WWII history.
Strangely, I seldom read fiction. Once, you suggested we read a trashy novel. (Are they full of sex?) So I read a book about a cat detective, in which a female police detective has a pet cat who actually helps solve crimes. It’s a chore to read fiction because I enjoy learning. (That’s why I watch your videos. Did you think it was because you look so good?)
When I buy an iPad2 or iPad3, I plan to use it to read books and perhaps reduce the huge collection of books I own. Do you enjoy the new iPad2?

I just finished a couple of Patricia Cornwell’s Scarpetta novels, which are very popular. (Every branch library here seems to have about a two-foot long section of those.) I really liked the
series and it’s characters, but in the later volumes, she got real wordy about relationship stuff instead of the nuts and bolts of medical examiner/detective matters. I say liked, because she had a couple of her characters go “off the rails” for awhile. Dammit, she shouldn’t make the likable, gruff, but capable, cop detective get liquored up and almost rape her and screw up the series. Well, whadayagonnado?
These are shocking statics Marina; however I must admit I too have been a contributor them. I must start to look for something fun to read.
Thank You for making us aware of this Marina.
I am so thankful that I can read. Reading is cool. But what I really want to do is Write. Right
I am never without a book..absolutely love to read
I guess it is because of the surprising statistics.
For some reason, I don’t seem to have a lot of free time. When I do read a book, it is to learn some ‘new’ technical subject. After the first read mostly turns out the book is not up to date and online documentation is much more up to date.

Hi, Marina what kind of books do you like to read?
my favorite books to read are the Classics like Mark Twain, Jules Verne and the Great Books of the Western World and of course Hot For Words I read that Twice and I loved it.
Marina,
Your target audience: Hormonely charged boys and the literate.
You have good grey matter between your ears and have it nicely packaged.
tl;dr – but those pictures of Marylin Monroe are hot.
I always finish what I begin. In matters of books, I don’t go for short, fast blisses. I get that from other sources. If I open a book and read its first page, then I will read its last page, and all the ones between, even if the book in question is everything but engrossing. Even if it’s the most boring book in the world. Sometimes, the best pearls are found inside what seems, at first look, to be the most insignificant, dumb and shallow books. If I say arrivederci to this particularly boring book after a couple of uninteresting chapters, then I will never get to see these few striking lines perhaps hidden inside it, these few line that perhaps I have been looking for all my life. I tell myself that whatever got me inside a particular book (perhaps an attractive title, presentation or cover, or a hearsay) must have done it for some reason. But of course, I do understand very well that lots of people don’t see things the way I see them.
I like scientific books too, big ones, with very few letters and lots of numbers and mathematical tables and formulae inside them.

Hi Marina,
You’re right, those stats are deplorable. Can’t remember if I’ve mentioned this before (sorry if so), but my Mother, two Aunts and my Sister were all Librarians in the small town that I was raised in, and I was, quite literally, raised in a Library. And I read voraciously. Still do. When I couldn’t find any other book to amuse me, I read the big dictionary that resided on a swivel stand on the card stacks. Learned to read by the time I was four.
I usually read two or three nonfiction books at the same time, but only one novel at a time. I’ve never seen a movie based on a book that was as good as the book, because nothing can replace one’s own imagination. I’ll probably also never own a Kindle or what have you because nothing replaces an actual BOOK, to me. The feel, the smell, wondering where it’s been if it’s a used book, all that stuff’s magic to me. Sad that so few feel the same way. Stay safe.

I agree about the Kindle.. I LOVE adding books to my bookshelf once they are done.. BUT.. the convenience of the Kindle/iPad make find new books to read SOOO easy! You can read the first chapter before you even buy it.. so you can whittle through the boring books easily without spending a dime. They need to make a virtual bookshelf that I can project on to my wall of all the digital books I have read!
Cool that you grew up in a library.. I love libraries!
“Other times I’ll pick up a book and immediately I have trouble getting through the first chapter. Do you know what I do then? I put the book away in my bookshelf and find myself another book that is more fun to read. I may go through 3 or 4 books at a time to find that enjoyable book”
I do exactly the same thing xD
Nice! :-)
I definitely can understand why some choose not to read. The Classics, when I went to high school, were considered to be the English and French romance novels of the 19th century, as well as a sprinkling of American titles. For a 13 year old boy, these were utter drudgery (Madame Bovary, Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre, The Scarlet Letter, etc.); and to be tested on such material seemed a cruel punishment. I leaped into Sci-Fi and Fantasy to escape from this torture, especially on days when it was too wet or cold to play outside. A particularly good book, that I just could not put down, often pushed me to break curfew by reading it with a flashlight in a closet or under my covers. I did not like what my school called classics, but I came to create my own list, usually from the historical fiction genre: The Three Musketeers, The Count of Monte Cristo, Ivanhoe, El Cid, Don Quixote, Shogun, etc. But I still love my Sci-Fi/Fantasy: LoTR, Ender’s Game, Stranger in a Strange Land, Dune, etc. Right now I am re-reading an old trilogy by CS Lewis called the Space Trilogy, written in 1943, about a man abducted to Mars. After this I’ll probably reread the Myth Inc series, which is light and meaningless, but always good for a laugh, or set myself to attacking the Wheel of Time series.
I think our bookshelves must be very similar. Ivanhoe and the Count of Monte Cristo are my favorites. I also own the Myth series…I got them when I was 12 or 13 and re-read them every 5 years or so…they still make me laugh. I got caught up in Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy (again) while describing it to my 11 year old.
Ha! I bet you’re right. It’s great to know that Douglas fans are never far away. :) I tried to make my list of books small, but it’s just impossible. One series leads you to another and soon your books start taking over your home. My parents expected me to read adult books when I was very young. My first book (apart from Dr Seuss stories) was The Lord of the Flies (yes, my folks are strange), followed by the complete works of Edgar Allen Poe. After these, I was introduced to old school Sci-Fi (Heinlein, Aasimov, etc.) and Fantasy (Tolkien, Donaldson, and Zelazny). Since then my brothers and friends have been big influences on what I pick up… because if I can’t find something I like, I just return to and reread my old books.

by Robyn Jackson
So you want to write a book. Well, why not? So does about 80 percent of the United States population according to a survey by the Jenkins Group.
My mother taught that you proved your literacy when another person could comprehend what you wrote, respond in writing, and you can comprehend that written response. Writing and receiving letters seemed to be her yard stick. I never really liked to correspond by letters. Consequently, I was considered illiterate during much of my youth.

OK, Just finished Clancy’s “Dead or Alive”. Now reading Cohen’s “Drucker on Leadership”. Got another in the wings.
Noticed that Marilyn has all the book right side up.
What does that say about “W”?
In his defense, the picture with him holding the book (“America”) upside down does not show him reading the book. He’s watching a little girl who is reading in front of her class. At least he’s not as carefully posed for the camera, as Marilyn is in every picture. Her choreographed shots draw attention to the attempts to prove that she can read, as though trying to throw off the stereotype of the ditzy blonde (that as an actress she carried off with skill). I’m not anti-Marilyn, but there’s not a genuine snapshot of her life in any of the selections above. If Bush is an idiot for holding a book upside down, what does that say about one half of the US who voted for him (twice), and the other half who acquiesced to his assumption of power (twice)? I wonder if there is any metaphorical or spiritual significance to the photo… “America” is right-side up in the hands of an inner city minority youth, but upside -down in the hands of an old white politician from old money.
My eldest brother had this album (on vinyl of course) when I was young… it has Candle in the Wind, as well as my favorite EJ song… Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. Somehow, in spite of its brilliance, I couldn’t listen to the song about Norma Jean. Perhaps it was just too sad for me then.
MM was a redhead
1962 – Marilyn Monroe arrived in New York on the evening of May 17, 1962 to prepare for what would be one of her most memorable major public appearances, but tragically, her last. She had left Hollywood against the wishes of studio executives while filming “Something’s Got to Give”, a film that was never completed, to perform at the Democratic Party fundraiser and birthday salute for President John F. Kennedy. Reportedly, Marilyn herself paid $1,000 for her ticket to the event.
…?????????????
Yes… I can’t figure out if Trusty is like Marilyn or Brigitte?
I think she has to start acting in films and maybe something really good will happen.

You’re looking at it all skewed, James… Marilyn, Brigitte, Zsa Zsa, Ursula, Jayne Mansfield, and others were just test runs… Research & Development, so to speak… heralding the advanced and improved model. Marina, the 6 billion dollar woman… stronger, faster, brainier, mas guapa… and atomic powered (with nuclear arms and terrific legs). But I must admit, to me she looks even better as a brunette.
Jayne Mansfield had a nice set… Sophia was even checking them out…

I knew there was something about her that I liked. 8-)
Yeah she was. The sad thing is Marilyn will always be forever young. Actually, I guess it depends on how you look at it.
Yes… some people see a glass of water as half full, others see it as half empty.
I would forget all of that and offer the glass of water to this girl…
