Hi, still no login button at the top left as of right now. I know your testing, just letting you know.
Oh wait, there’s a little PD avatar in the very top left corner, but when I click around it sometimes disappears and there’s nothing…tried leaving a comment without being “signed in” and it asked me if I want to sign in with my disqus acct. I didn’t try because I don’t remember the password.

Ok now there is a login button on the home page, because I logged out then back in again.

Yeah, there’s a lot happening on the site right now. I’m sure it will all be back to normal soon, but right now I would be surprised to click on the site and only see the login button…on the whole page! Ha! If you’re worried about your comments or replies vanishing copy it before you post. That way if you post and it doesn’t show up you can paste it in the comment/reply box again.

Apparently it keeps crashing. She’s running tests to isolate the problem. I’m sure things will be back(minus the feature thats causing the issue) to normal shortly.

Just saw on google that today is international women’s day. Well, I just want to wish you a great one. I’d like to tell you that you are without a doubt the most unique teacher I’ve had in all my life. You are very, very special, and you are without a doubt a hell of a woman. Honestly, I am not sure I learned a lot about english by attending your class, but I sure learned quite a lot about women, about yourself, and a little bit about myself too. I am very grateful for that.

Marina, how is the testing going? There are a lot things coming back only they look a little different. Are you done? Is this the new look of the site? When will we know?
I noticed now when I click the “39 minutes ago” in the recent comment box it opens a new page. Then when I click on a time in the recent comments box on the new page the page switches within the same page. It seem like before if I clicked on a time in the RC box it would only switch the page, not open a new one.

Really? Is there a pixel limit for the photos? Let’s just hope that everyone has some restraint, because lately I have seen some huge photo arrays showing up in the comments, that, if stored at HFW would eat up mammoth disk space.

When I was a kid (’50s), a dozen of the family and friends would gather around my great grandma’s dining room table and play canasta for an evening. (We kids would busy ourselves with other things and I never played it.) That went out with the last two generations. Nowadays with cable, video games, the ‘Net, etc., nobody is interested in such a dull proposition.

For me, playing cards is a kind of time killer, played only when we are at the vacation cabin, etc. Otherwise, I’d rather surf the Web.

I am going to repeat a suggestion from before and embellish on the theme. All the site maintenance/improvement stuff should be separated from the lesson blogs, because those looking at old lessons will care less about problems that were resolved long ago. Ditto for suggestions on perhaps a version of the site that is long gone. Here is how I would do it:

1. The TECH button should be a pull down menu in three parts (maybe not in this order):
1) A problem reporting/discussion/feedback blog, This is where problems would be reported and feedback from testing, etc. would be aired. Any extraneous matter (jokes, non-pertinant comments and the like) would be discouraged and hopefully deleted.
2) Marina’s tech page as it now exists
3) A list of user’s tech pages. The latter would list blogs for each serious user who wishes to write about technical matters at HFW and clicking on a list item would lead to a user’s blog. Perhaps a user could petition M (or a TA) for a blog and then she would audit it for quality, i.e. make sure that it is not just a pile of crapola, and if it was, delete it. It shouldn’t take much effort to see if a user was serious about contributing something worthwhile and maintaining it. Maybe these blogs could be called, oh, I don’t know, TEACHER’S PETS. Yeah, that has a ring to it.

Within a user’s blog, the comments could be used for, say, a FAQ, how things work, a wish list for improvements or any other technical category. Only the user could post there, and with the unlimited edit window, the topics could be updated and maintained; the entire effort would thus be the user’s responsibility and he should be held accountable for the quality of work by feedback from others in feedback blog.

Anyone else have any ideas along these lines?

Where or why can’t I access my account, or my forum is gone, not even on the list of forum, It keeps coming up error404, or goes back to the lesson about My Notepad, It would be nice to be able to click on people’s comments, and take you right to it, Instead of always having to look all over for it, In the comment box, leoNard made a post I wanted to see and maybe even comment, but I can’t find it manually, and clicking on it the comments, hasn’t been useable, or made aviable? I loved that feature, and the forums, and to be able to speak, or post as we wish, this is all now under censoring or something along those lines is it not, My former posts, many of them posted for everybody, many still left untouched, and unanswered, why is that? It seems none hardly any more replies or post to people, on vary rare occasions, Except maybe an exception of a few. Will we get in trouble for posting or saying things now? Lets see if this posts under my account through here!

Thank you Marina for your help! For some reason I was logged into Neuroways account, how or why I don’t know, but when I enter the lesson pages, I was back to my matrix account, then as I was posting, I was matrix, then one of my disgus account logged in all by itself, and I made a few posts, before I realized this, but after a few posts, I was automatically logged back into my matrix account through here, back and forth between mine and Neuro’s account all by itself. Well it sounds like you and others are getting the same thing happening to you, or some, My it was leoNard that was talking about the same type of thing. Whatever, thank you for your help and time Marina, That is good they are working on fixing the Avatars! Peace!
