Moving comments to DISQUS
Hey guys, sorry about the mess right now! I decided to move the commenting system over to something called DISQUS because it allows for something called Single Sign On. Which basically means that if you are signed in to Facebook, or Twitter, for example(s), you will already be signed into HotForWords and can make comments here without having to sign in again.
Everything else should remain the same. You will still get notified when people respond to your comments, but there should also be some new features that make this new system even better than what we had before.
Please be patient because it is taking me some time importing my 187,000+ comments into the new system. None of your comments will disappear (even though they are not showing right now), in fact, if I ever want, I can revert back to the old system and not one comment (even the new ones) will be missing.
Once I get the system fully imported, I will show you the neat things we can do with DISQUS. Until then, sorry about the delay in getting the thing fully functional!
In the meantime, here is a word game for you to keep you preoccupied!

1)i can’t seem to move my discuss window if people login as guest….(this happens when people can’t see the send comment button) plz advice.
2)plus if people login as Discus…how on earth can i see their website/url link? i just can see their recent urls that they commented..

More than a few of us are experiencing
varying levels of difficulty, having multiple
sites piped through Disqus.
Tonight, it’s given me errors when trying to
make reply posts after going into Facebook.
I don’t know the problem, but the work-around
I had to do was to log out and log back in here.
Oh yeah, one thing that still works good…
When you make a word request, enclose it
in brackets. eg. {Islamophobia}
Marina uses a script to seek out requests for
her list that searches for bracket sets.

It would be really easy to get the smilies back.
Especially for wordpress users. The smilies are still in a folder on the hotforwords site all that needs to be done is write a regex that replaces (for instance) the text code… :mrgreen: with the image tag and address like this…
it is really easy for wordpress because they are all in the same folder address and you don’t need the site address, so it can be a written once and used by everyone

Well what can I say, I hope everything works out with DISCUS! I have found some glitch’s I’m not sure if they have anything to do with you changing things or not. In the private message section, the walls are to thin, almost all the pictures the pictures get cut way off, the only ones that do show up whole are the very very small pictures. Also to do with the posting on private posts / replies. For some reason some of the latest reply link willn’t work right, for me an empty space, which it can’t be clicked or any typing, all that is present, is a reply button and nothing more! Ok these are some of the things that been happening to me anyhow. Goodbye for now! Peace!

You may be able to resize the page view using a hotkey combination.
Try pressing the control key and the minus key, simultaneously (CTRL -).
This is a common browser hotkey to resize your view at a lower scale.
CTRL + will zoom the view bigger. I don’t know for sure if Chrome uses
that combination, but there has to be something like that available to use.

On the page for “Heide Klum is an übermodel” it says comments for this page are closed. So there’s two comments I made on that page that are waiting for approval. One was a reply to you. Am I to assume that these aren’t going to show up?

The ‘Timmy’ avatar is via Gravatar. Awhile back, something changed and killed the link to lesson posts, so the ‘Boris’ avatar is loaded from HFW dashboard. ‘Timmy’ shows up in the forums, as that link to Gravatar is still intact.

You had to have verified both emails (Discus is reading your two (similar but capitalized differently) emails as different for some reason.)

I NEVER, EVER allow 3rd party cookies (that’s like locking the front door and leaving the back door open, with a light on; and an open invitation for thieves to enter and kill you in your sleep!) In one of my messages to Marina, I offered her ‘good lick’ and left it because it wasd funny!
I just emailed support to tell them to merge your accounts.. I also did a forgot password and typed the email address in exactly how you had it ALL CAPS before the @ sign and lowercase after the @ sign. Maybe you’ll get a password reset and can log in?

Log out of disqus if you are in.
Then go to a timmy icon and right click on it… open in new window.
On the disqus page you arrive at does it say claim these comments?

If you have a comment with attachments then remove the comment…
The comment and the like/reply buttons go but the attachment stays and smooshes into the next persons comment.

No joy. My access hinges on Disqus ability to recognize my email address (which it uses quite well, except for this purpose). No variation of caps/ non caps is recognized when I submit my email address for a new password. When I try to get to the dashboard, it throws me into a sign in box – it’s a (mobius) loop from which there is no escape. The sign in has another alternative for an ‘open id’ ( I have no idea what that is about).
Since I have an account here, and, presumably, one at Disqus; I am guessing this is how it sees me as having two accounts. Still, it should recognize my email address in either case. Es ist alle gans tworped! (run that through your translator – heh heh!)
Maybe you can change chacha’s email in your data base?

I’m just curious here but I’ve made a few comments using DISQUS and most of them posted right away here on HotForWords except one didn’t show up. But it’s on my profile on DISQUS and at the bottom of the comment it’s telling me that This comment is awaiting approval?
I tried posting that comment that wouldn’t show up on here again and the same thing happened.

After thinking about it, I didn’t like the fact that I had to share me personal information with disqus, so opted out. Plus my identity had changed. So I will just logon the old fashioned way.

Maria is powerful robot who would make a better alien who could adapt, while any human male is left with a super zapper. Any thougt of fitting in with a human female after ‘the robot’ would be a real eye opener. We love her as she is/ though a robot could go on like the ever-ready bunny.

If a comment is flagged NOTHING happens to the comment. I have to physically go in and look at the flagged comments and decided to hide it or delete it.. but that only happens if I decide to do it on each individual case. So don’t worry.. comments will not start disappearing!

Converting to Disqus will drastically reduce your member population, because everyone will log in using facebook! Otherwise, in the default comments, people must register for your site to use the new comments.
I’d rather have conversations rather than worry about the number of members. The convenience of commenting without having to create a new account will, I think, attract more people to the site to comment. I find that I comment more when I am already logged into other websites… that use DISQUS for example.

is your email supposed to be @ymail.com? Or was that a typo? if it is at ymail, then you should have gotten an email.. thought yahoo seems to block my emails sometimes.
