It was by mistake, and once I did that, I realized, “wow, this is the Font HotForWords uses!” Then you take a screen capture once it is created. Don’t you wish it was as good quality as when you take the screen capture? :smile:
I do it in Photoshop so it can be whatever quality I want when I save it. Good job being observant there! A lot of the most important discoveries (like penicillin for example) were discovered by mistake! :-)

Nice find on the logo font. By the way, you don’t necessarily need to change the background in Word to black. You can just type the text as you would normally. Since you are capturing the text into an image, you can do an image reverse and get the same result.
By the way, why don’t you make a video request to HotForWords. I’m sure you’ve got some cool words I want to know about. For example, the word “Savannah” would be an interesting word and how is it related to the city in Georgia, the cats, etc.

It looks great for a first attempt. I think overall it looks fine and I think the caption below can stay as needed. In other words, you can remove the caption and only use it to make announcements, unless those announcements conflict with other parts of the page, then I would leave the caption off.
The only two things I would do to improve things is to do the following:
1. The loading of the images took a while. Clear you cache and reload your page to see what I mean. I noticed that one of your images is 211K. If you reduce the image file sizes to 50K or less, they would load faster.
2. Adding a fade to the image transitions would look cooler and it’s something you can add later.

But I learned from PK and Captain Jack and Marina and a lot of others to just ignore them and be nice back to them and that would stop the flaming. I was accustomed to what people said to me in real life and would get mad and curse back at them. I had to change my thinking on here as most members are joking with you. Now I only associate it on here with joking and playing and using the smileys to show we are only kidding. You may have one or two that pick on you but remember the ones that are your friends. Hi Chase,
Regarding your question of wanting to remove the account.
My recommendation is that you don’t remove the account.
There are several reasons why you don’t want to do that.
First, if the account is removed, someone can create that same account and impersonate you which can eventually hurt you.
Second, if you want to come back, the account is there ready for you to use again.
What I recommend is that you can change all of your personal information to dummy data, like using x’s. Leave your email intact so you can get Marina’s updates and if you forget your password, you can get a new password emailed to you.
If you need help with anything, let me know. :smile:

I hardly ever use umlauts since I don’t write in German and I get to use it once in awhile on this site. For someone who uses the umlaut on a daily basis, there are many ways to do it. Here are some ways to do it for people in the US who don’t have a keyboard with umlauts.
1. Add a specific language to the keyboard encoding in the Control Panel. In this way, one can use hot keys to enter umlauts or other language characters.
2. Since there are only a handful of umlauts in German, I used to save all of the possible umlauts in notedpad and then just do a copy-paste.
3. Since I rarely use umlauts, I wouldn’t remember the Alt-key combination, and if I don’t have my crib sheet handy, I use “Charmap” to browse the characters I want.
4. If I were to use umlauts sporadically and didn’t add the keyboard language set into the Control panel, I would eventually remember the ALT-key combination or have a crib sheet in front of me and enter the Alt-key.

That is EXACTLY why I title my videos that way on YouTube. You’ll notice that the majority of the top channels title their videos that way. I would prefer not to title them that way, but I have to be competitive.
My site is not trashy.. the titles on YouTube might be trashy but they don’t effect the content of the videos. The videos are as informative as they’ve always been and I attempt to make them humorous, and if you don’t like the slant I take, that is fine, but it’s no different from what I’ve been doing since day one.
The smoking weed reference comes from the video.. I switched it from smoking opium to smoking medical marijuana. Sorry if you don’t find that humorous.

Chase, even though I understand what you are saying about young kids searching and Marina’s titles, and I might even agree with you on one level, however, in the context of what Marina does, I think you are too young too understand, not only in terms of marketing, but sophisticated humor.
I don’t expect you to understand, nor do I expect you to agree, but may I point out where your otherwise good intentions are misplaced, which is understandable at your age. But, keep in mind there are people that watch Marina’s videos that are the same age as you and they have a different perspective or values.
1. When you are referring to little kids, one would think that the parents are in control of those kids? If not, then may I tell you that those kids did NOT learn it from Marina. In fact, I can tell you that maybe Marina might actually be influenced by those naughty young kids. Do you want me to point out the X rated URL YOU posted on this site? Did your mother approve of that? You don’t want me to start using the h word, do you?
2. The use of the word like “sexting” and other words that Marina uses actually comes from user’s requests or haven’t you noticed the kinds of words that young people like you are requesting? As a matter of fact, the word sexting was in the news way before Marina used it in the context of her videos. Go look at Google trends and search sexting. In fact it is an ever increasing popular word, not because of Marina, but look at the articles that mention that word. Who is influencing who????
3. The fact is that Marina uses very sophisticated humor which many people don’t get. The words that Marina uses comes from current events and everyday news and the titles and videos are prompted by users like me and you.
4. You are wrong about when you say that Marina’s titles have changed since 2007. Have you gone and looked at the list. Go to he chronological list and look again. Keep things in perspective and understand that Marina did not have a huge audience yet at that time, nor did she post as many videos and therefore was not influenced by the users making large number of word requests. Again, it depends on the word, the context of the word (movie, music, news, etc) and who requested it. All I see is what is done in context. Sorry you don’t see it that way, yet. :smile:

Chase, I understand why you are asking the question, “why?” and believe me, I asked the same questions. As I said, most of the videos come from the context of what is happening in the news and what the users are asking for. A week does not go by when someone is asking for the origin of the F word. When Marina first started out, she didn’t have the diverse audience yet where people were making those kinds of requests.
By the way, Marina asked a question back in 2008 on this site (ref. Butterfly video) regarding the use of profane language in her videos. The consensus is that within the context of language origins, no word is off of the table. Also, keep in mind that the words that Marina chooses are words that have at least some interesting story behind them in order for people to watch them. Many words just do not have interesting stories behind them. When choosing a title, it is no different than what the TV and print media do, they try to use catchy titles.
Have you seen the titles that Shane Dawson, ShayCarl and other sue? Those are way out there on the limb. At least with Marina’s titles, they do fit in with the context of the word.
