250 Million Video Views on YouTube!
Hey guys and gals!! I just wanted to let you know that I just hit a QUARTER OF A BILLION video views on YouTube! That’s “like” 250 million views or 250,000,000!!! The equivalent to the world’s total population in the year 1 A.D.! If I was living back then, then every single person in the entire world would have seen my videos, but would they all have had Internet? Hmmmm…I wonder… Oh.. sorry.. got off track there!
Anyway, I will make a video shortly thanking you all! But, with toxic black mold taking over my apartment, then zombies eating my head, followed by me having to move out of my apartment (still headless?) to escape the mold.. and now a FULL MOON hitting tomorrow, it will be a miracle if ever manage to make that video!!!
In the mean time, THANK YOU SO MUCH for making me reach that milestone! You all ROCK, I love you!

Congratulations Marina. Wow 250 mil. I can’t even imagine that number. Too bad Google didn’t give you a nickle per view. You would be rich. — Maybe someday I’ll be lucky to get 250 views of my videos.
I see you nearly have 20k of unread YouTube emails. Why doesn’t Youtube fix that? That is such an easy fix. One of those emails could have been worth a million dollars.

Just letting you know that I love your comments and your tweets and I love you like a father. Yes, I am a youngster.
I would like to point out some things that you may have not thought about. Consider these as constructive critiques. I am not judging you as your heart is in the right place and I admire you. However, I am judging some of your execution and maybe even some of what I might call misplaced assumptions? In other words, might you be assuming too much?
Here is my critique:
1. Your fan site domain is being re-directed and is actually hosted on laserradio.com I am conflicted about that and others will be too. Hosting the fan site on its own site would carry more clout.
2. Your domain name is registered with Network Solutions as opposed to GoDaddy. Wouldn’t it have been a better gesture to register with GoDaddy in view of Marina’s sponsor and her being a GoDaddy Girl? Yes, I know you criticized GoDaddy a few video pages back. You don’t have to remind me, but I disagree with your critique of GD.
3. What’s with the 1992 vintage style of look and feel of your site. Now, let me ask you. Put yourself in Marina’s shoes. Would you want to be associated with a site as you display? Be honest. I am not talking about creating a super fancy dancy high tech site. I am talking about elegant simplicity. Look at Google. You site doesn’t show that. It shows old, staid, archaic, anachronistic, etc. You don’t need fancy photos or other high tech stuff, but simple styling and organization. John, please get with the times. Yes, I know, I saw you mentioning that you plan on getting some web designers to show off their skill.
4. Whom are you trying to benefit? I know your heart is in the right place. To me, the site is showing your ego slip and it seems to benefit the products and maybe not benefiting Marina at all.
5. Typically, my recommendation is to use the words “HotForWords” as one word as opposed to three words. At times, it is appropriate to use three words and you have to be the judge. “HotForWords” as one word is recognized as a twitter user and the domain name as well as the YT profile. In terms of search, it is also more advantageous.
6. On your “marinaletter” page, you used the initials H4W and later you talk about branding. Those initials are not the same as HFW which is the correct way to indicate that you are referring to this site. H4W refers to Marina’s second channel which is http://www.youtube.com/hot4words
7. What was your motivation to publicly show the letter to Marina. Shouldn’t that be a private matter? I see you ruffling your ego feathers. I guess if no one else will, you’ll have to do it. But why?
8. You said you wrote to the “Business ideas” link. Where is that link located? I see a “Business Matters” link.
9. You said you hadn’t heard back. It could be for a million reasons and maybe attention to detail might be one of them?
I know your heart is in the right place and sorry for being so anal. I am not perfect by any means and perfection is elusive for sure. But, a little thinking about the details goes a long way.

I just got back from installing the F1 painting and am off to have dinner with my Mom and I will make the changes you suggested when I get back. I’d be happy to give the domain to you (if you think the idea has any merit at all, which I think we showed today it might, if properly executed) and you could turn to the cool web people, maybe some cool web-savvy fan and they could develop it. 1. I agree. It was just easy and inexpensive to put this prototype up at Laser.
2. I understand your point. I did my first domain with NS in 1996, years before GD even existed and I’m loyal. This is a $50 prototype.
3. I beg your pardon…1992? :-) Yea, me and Tim were hanging out at CERN and a year later I was writing “HTML for Dummies”. Aint it great? I agree with you 100% It’s just too plain jane and I just don’t know any better. It’s a prototype.
4. This one involves details that are best sent private. Short answer, “What goes around comes around” and “everybody, with you as primary aggregator of content.”
As I said in my letter, I love you as another artist and I want you to be secure, fulfilled and happy.

7. I didn’t want anybody to think I was doing this to rip your hard work off, so I posted the letter I sent HFW and you.

Your life sounds like THE PERILS OF MARINA. I rented BLACK DAHLIA wiht Mia Kirshner last weekend. That was a sad movie. I saw the trailers and all I thought this morning was they were doing that barbaric act to a sweet little 15 year old girl! Since MSU I do not trust the rich anyway; but that one snot was a student in my class I taught. It looked like they had that poor little girl in the black dress’ head stuck in a vice and she was screaming in fear and pain. that was as wicked as any horror movie. I watched that on Halloween. You are and were just a struggling artist.
that murder took place in 1947. But I remembef when I was landscaping my mom’s backyard in 1994, I looked to see if they really sold Black Dahlias. that murder was on my mind even back then. I could onlhy find orange ones. I guess they come from Mexico. I do not have the stamina to do backyard gardening like I did in 1993 and 1994.
And of course, people are still puzzling over who shot JFK in 1963. The History Channel had an entire week of specials on the Kennedy Assasination. Boy in one of those news programs about it in retrospecitve, Kaite Couric sure looked like a cute little fattie! Never imagined that she was so fat at one time!!! Must have been in the early 80′s.

I don’t know where your site’s odometer data is coming from because I’m ignorant of java source code. Objectively wanting to believe you’ve hit this milestone, I’d suggest that in future interviews and online mentions of the “quarter billion views” you/ others might simply say who is documenting this traffic, so there’s no question about the legitimacy of it. Because just today, you’ve apparently had the viewership of all of Long Beach, CA.
I hope it’s Youtube/Google providing the odometer data as part of the adwords monetizing of the viewership you’re creating because you deserve the reward for your hard work.
Your fans are happy you’re moving Monday and they surely hope everything goes well. YouTube counts the views. When you hit my website it grabs the number from YouTube.
I really appreciate that Marina takes such good care of her body. and she wears pretty makeup. But I did once comment to another photographer that SEX SELLS! My writing and photography are of less sexy things. I did try to make pictures of flowers look erotic sometimes.

Congrats Marina. 250 million views means that you keep lots of people entertained and a little more too. We, our students, enjoy watching your videos. If not, why would we keep watching them? If you like what you’re doing, if you can keep your feet on the ground while unleashing your mind in the clouds from time to time, and bring it back down on earth when you need to, if you’re happy with the things you create, the ones you think about and the people you meet, if you smile a lot and often for no particular reason, then keep it up, girl!
I’m so proud for you, Marina! You’re a huge inspiration, and as long as you keep making lessons I’ll be your devoted student. Fire up for half a billion!
