Interview for Mako – Israeli Magazine

mako-il
Check out this interview I did for Mako, an Israeli Magazine.  The writer who did the interview was not too happy with how it was edited down to practically nothing… but that’s the way these interviews go, right?
Here is the interview in its original language.

Here is the interview run through Google Translator.

The Voice of Russia spoke to the Israeli cultural minister on their shortwave radio show. She was a pleasant sounding woman,
I bought some digital photos from a Chrsitian pulbihser taken in Israel. ON the Mount of Olives they show a Tower of Ascension built by the Russian Orthodox Christian church. Christ ascended into heaven from the Mount of Olives after his Resurrection. And he will descend upon the Mount of Olives at his Second Coming.

“He has all the virtues I dislike and none of the vices I admire.” – Sir Winston Churchill 1874-1965

Reminds me of another story attributed to Churchill:

Churchill was at some formal function or other when, in his cups; he approached Duchess or Lady Whatsername and said, “My dear, would you have sex with me for a million pounds?”
She replied in the affirmative. He then said, “Would you have sex with me for ten pounds?” to which she replied, “Dear sir, what kind of a woman do you think I am?”
His reply: “Madame, we have already established the type of woman you are, now we are discussing price!”

    Happy Friday, everybody!!

    • Bob says:

Another story of an exchange between Sir Winston and a lady politician who was getting exasperated by him winning the argument:-
      “Mr Churchill, you are drunk!”
“And you, Madam, are ugly; but by tomorrow I shall be sober.”

   american pie[old joe Kennedy] The Department of Justice started keeping a list of organizations that it deemed subversive beginning in 1942. This list was first made public in 1948, when it included 78 items. At its longest, it comprised 154 organizations, 110 of them identified as Communist. In the context of a loyalty review, membership in a listed organization was meant to raise a question, but not to be considered proof of disloyalty. One of the most common causes of suspicion was membership in the Washington Bookshop Association, a left-leaning organization that offered lectures on literature, classical music concerts and discounts on books. german spies

With the Internet, the meaning of International seems passé.
The fuss, or interest or key words are Internet, technology, business, attraction, interest and success which crosses — I was going to say borders, but there aren’t any borders on the Internet. Look at the countries from which articles have come. Mostly countries that have a high level of tech.

By the way, Israel has a very interesting top 100 list in technology or innovations. I’ll have to dig it up.

Meir was born Golda Mabovitch (Ukrainian: Голда Мабович) in Kiev in the Russian Empire (today Ukraine) to Blume Neiditch and Moshe Mabovitch, a carpenter. Meir wrote in her autobiography that her earliest memories were of her father boarding up the front door in response to rumors of an imminent [pogrom]. She had two sisters, Sheyna and Tzipke, as well as five other siblings who died in childhood. She was especially close to Sheyna. Moshe Mabovitch left to find work in New York City in 1903.[5] In his absence, the rest of the family moved to Pinsk to join her mother’s family. In 1905, Moshe moved to Milwaukee in search of higher-paying work and found employment in the workshops of the local railroad yard. The following year, he had saved up enough money to bring his family to the United States.

Blume ran a grocery store on Milwaukee’s north side, where by age eight Golda had been put in charge of watching the store when her mother went to the market for supplies. Golda attended the Fourth Street Grade School (now Golda Meir School) from 1906 to 1912. A leader early on, she organized a fundraiser to pay for her classmates’ textbooks. After forming the American Young Sisters Society, she rented a hall and scheduled a public meeting for the event. She went on to graduate valedictorian of her class despite not knowing English at the beginning of her schooling. גולדה מאיר

[indigenous] and cross in dessert 34. Israel leads the world in the number of scientists and technicians in the workforce, with 145 per 10,000, as opposed to 85 in the US, over 70 in Japan, and fewer than 60 in Germany. With over 25% of its work force employed in technical professions, Israel places first in this category as well.

Specifically in technology it is New Media (visual, video, YouTube ) and Social Networking as in Twitter. There is a ton of stuff brewing, and Google Wave is one of those, if you’ve seen Marina’s tweets lately.

See the posts I left back in May on the Forum
      regarding Google Wave.

Very informative article for the short edit. Wished it hadn’t been edited down. Over the last year I had noticed that many of the YouTube Honors have come from Israel such as the recent GTW answer Laconic.

I noticed two gorgeous photos of Marina at the bottom of the article that I had not seen before, except maybe in other contexts. The second and third photo from the left.

Some of the best interviews are left untampered so it’s understandable to me why the author would have an issue with editing
