 Brittany Sovran looks like a Vogue model. In a tweet she says

I want to read The Crimson Petal and the White. Badly.

That book sort of got hammered by the critics but it's a good read. If she doesn't have a copy of that book I will send her mine. I suppose she's married to Ravi. Oh well. ;-)

I totally understand about the dynamic you're referring too.

I'm completely new to this, but in previous comments of mine I actually began to touch on this subject and ask Marina how her 'celebrity'/chosen profession affects her normal dating/'love' life as the image she presents reminds me of a virtual girlfriend/boyfriend concept I had a long time ago as much as anything to do with words or teaching...but I think I just erased that part of the commentary instead.

I don't necessarily think it's a bad thing to 'play to the camera' as she does since she's obviously been exceptionally successful with it given her rare combination of attributes - but how could she ever have a normal relationship or boyfriend without ruining her 'brand'?

Meh.

Who cares I guess. In the same way that some people like reading into the random positive words of Astrology and feeling important or hopeful as a result, I kind of really like her online presence as something of the bombshell virtual girlfriend.

Whatever works I suppose.

When I first started following along she posted a 'Magibon' impression video showcasing her new lipstick without saying a word...and I thought it was one of the most adorable things I'd ever seen. I also made me suddenly realize why she's so popular in demonstrating that dynamic you just described - ironically without saying a word.

Marina's personality is totally cool compared to most of the 'Barbie Dolls' I've known though. I'm helplessly smart and kind so I've always been an advocate of intelligence and inner beauty far above the purely superficial and shallow role models and images Hollywood promotes and our f*cktarded society accepts as 'stars' - so she is like a breath of fresh air all things considered.

I just posted that comment because surely she is too intelligent to take Astrology seriously...I hope.

lol

Carry on.

;-)

That's a good link. I would like to make two points on Item 2:

2. Read the daily or weekly horoscope. Compare other star signs to yours. Notice how many of them will have a general statement that will, most likely, apply to your individual situation. Nearly all daily newspaper horoscopes are not carefully constructed, or are in fact generated randomly.

The first, and minor, point is that I had figured out on my own that one could read the prediction for any star-sign and end up with the impression that the prediction applies to oneself.

Here's the more interesting point: Perhaps around May, someone made a comment on this website about how people respond to pictures Marian puts out. His point was that people see the photos with their own contexts and they respond to the photos as though the photo were personal to them (which is similar to reading a prediction and thinking the prediction is personal to them). His comment was fairly elaborate and Marina thanked him for it; I wish I could find the original comment -- I tried, but could not find it.
