Those lazy deckhands! Leaving all those yellow hoses on deck for someone to trip over. No one around to watch over the hoses nor a sign place out in view. I see a LAWSUIT being born. In fact the deck hand would be fired on my boat. Why? I could lose the whole yacht in a lawsuit if someone tripped and injured themselfs.
Oh and I would be fired myself for losing the yacht.

    Cool snap shot Marina.

    Nice ship though.
Question, if you move this type of yacht, is it called sailing, or something different? In Dutch we have zeilen, varen and motor varen.

Great question. Technically no, because it’s a motor yacht. Though, it’s common practice to use traditional terms. So we say things like, “I need you back on the ship before we set sail at 1600 hours.” Funny thing is I’m also a sailboater and I kind of find it insulting to say that.

Sailboaters are a different type of people compared to motor boater. Motor yachtsmen seem to be in a hurry and terribly rude/snobbish at times. Whereas sailboaters are very relaxed and would give the shirt off their backs to help at total stranger out. That said, there are many exceptions to my view. I do see this difference between the types very often. I find this very odd because yachting is a unifying lifestyle. I guess one doesn’t have to be nice when one is overloaded with money.

    Thanks for the answer.
I too like sailing more than the motor boater type of sailing, its because its closer to nature.

    Sailboaters are more relaxed:
Maybe its because with sailing, to get to your destination you have to work with the wind so its not in a straight line. It makes you more aware that things don’t always go your way.

I’ve used both sail and motor to visit really nice places. I think kayaking is really the ultimate in boating on the water. It just you and this little tiny boat that keeps you just inches off the water. You’ll see many boaters carry kayaks on their yachts. I know they are true lovers of the sea.

What I feel with sailboating is that you have to think a bit more with setting sails. You also can not be in a hurry. I alway say if you are then get in one of those damn cigar tubes if you’re in such a hurry. Another great advantage of sailing is you can fill up your 100 gallon tank and sail around the world without needing to refuel. Some people have wind generators and solar panels to make power which takes them completely off the grid. Now that’s true freedom.

Once went kayaking in my high-schooldays. We went on this trip (5 days) to the Ourte. Al your kit needed to fit inside your kayak (in the back). So the kayaks were really tail heavy. And tended to turn around an go backwards when you didn’t paddle. First day was against the stream , but the others were with the stream witch was a lot easier ;).
Also went down a water-drop of 2m, kayak made an angel of 80 degrees . For me the water-drops where the most fun, but as we don’t really have them here sa sailing is my favourite.
