Nerd Word of the Day: Geeksploitation
Geeksploitation: n. (geek-sploi-tey-shuh
n) The act of taking advantage of twentysomething digital workers who are flushed with pioneer enthusiasm and willing to work very long hours if bolstered by junk food, flexible work schedules, and no dress code.
I think I’m guilty of geeksploitation on myself!

Geeksploitation works for now though; now (“Hot”) is the way you are, yes. But you’re also that ‘always’-kind of hot—the kind that lasts longer than any elastic can retain its [boingy]-ness!

Marina, I was wondering where you got your name for Kobe (now Gorby) when I noticed that there is the word кобель in Russian which means, appropriately, “he-dog”. I’m assuming, then, that Кобе is a shortened diminutive of this. Is this true?
he was named after the Basketball player.. and it wasn’t really a name that I came up with and later, after someone mistakenly thought his name was Gorby, I thought.. wow! I love that name! Since it sounds similar to Kobe, Gorby didn’t notice the change. I do end up calling him Korby quite a bit though! I’m still trying to learn the new name fully!
Dear Marina, My understanding of your Twitter message is that you want a funny story about “donkey punch.” Here’s one:
A salesman was waiting for a bus, at a bus stop located near a farmer’s barn. Inside the barn is a donkey feeding at a trhogh. The sales rep. finds that his watch is broken, so he asks the farmer, “What time is it?” The farmer punches his donkey in the rear and the donkey pulls it’s head up and brays. The farmer says, “It’s 11:00 AM.”
The salesman waits a while, but there’s still no bus. So he asks, “What time is it, now?” Again, ther farmer punches the donkey’s rear, and the donkey pulls up and brays. The farmer now says, “It’s 11:15 AM.”
The puzzled salesman asks, “How can you tell the time just by punching your donkey?”
“Easy,” says the farmer. “After the donkey lifts his head, we can see the clock tower at City Hall through barn window.”

Marina,
I’m concern about your inquiry for the expression ‘Donkey Punch’
Are you really planning to due a lesson on this expression. After looking up the real definition I concluded this is a violent act against a women (not necessarily always) even if rough sex is part of the game it seems wrong.
This sounds like a YouTube appeasement. You really want to encourage young men to sucker punch women.
Be prepared for the backlash if this is what you really are planning. In the meantime I’ll withhold further speculation until I see how you present this video. Hope you put the right spin on this expression.
I agree!
DON’T GO THERE, Marina.
A Donkey Punch is the worst kind of Sexual Violence and extremely dangerous for the woman.
If you make light of this you will end up regretting it.
  The joke about the man…using the wheelbarrow to position himself behind his neighbor’s horse and then breaking his neck; he sued and won, hard one to belieVe.
I think I will jump on the bandwagon for this one. We have so many targets to poke fun, this is an area best not to take lightly.

THANK YOU Marina
Thanks for clearing that up
Marina, Great! Hope you get to use extracts from those 3 pseudo-punch videos — I especially find the first two (coin-bag and beach-ball) very funny from my masculine point of view! And if you want to get back at me for my laughter at the first two, I confess that, in the third video, I am a little concerned for the “pillow” when the pillow is a real person.
No-one would believe that you would actually encourage such a practise, but by treating it in a light-hearted or humorous manner, you might give some people the impression that it is something less heinous than what it is, namely a serious personal assault.
I advise extreme caution.
You’re right Bob, There is a certain risk just exposing this concept to the young and impressionable.
Heaven forbid the young and impressionable would be encouraged to think for themselves in this day and age
Bob said it best: advise extreme caution :!:
I don’t know…I think it could be hilarious. Seems like some kind of politically correct double standard coming into play here. I have never executed, nor will I ever perform the “donkey punch”, and I seriously doubt most people do, or will, whether Marina does an obviously tongue in cheek (potential pun not intended) lesson on the term.
Everybody wants the uncensored content of the internet, but concern is arising about this? When I looked at a couple of the vids some of The Family posted about this, one popped up showing two women obviously doing an exercise with a ball to work their lower abs. The title? “Cunt Punt”.
I trust your judgement, Marina.
Always.
Cool or Lame ?
maybe its what new immigrants do :?: :?: settle the bet
Not “everybody” agrees with this, far from it. Even though I am against government censorship, I am definitely for censorship. Parents, obviously have a duty to censor, as do teachers. I also feel that each community has the right to uphold its own standards. As part of the HFW community, I am opposed to videos, posts, commentary, etc that makes light of sexual violence, racial and religious intolerance, and of recent import, the belittling of people with special needs. Lack of government censorship means each of us must uphold some type of standard.
I agree with you, bsomebody. My point was that INDIVIDUAL censorship is not only a good thing, but a necessary one. Just as parents needs to know what their kids are viewing, if something appears that I’m not comfortable with, I don’t have to watch it. Having now seen Marina’s video on this term I’m convinced she made the right decision and handled it in an entertaining yet tasteful manner. And she emphasized that the act is “a bad thing” and should not be done.
It seems as though we agree on the general idea of censorship and individual responsibility. That is a good thing. I guess we just draw the line in a different spot, and I respect that. I have already stated my opinion on the current video, so I will not beleaguer you with more of my idealogy. If you are truly interested in my opinion, check out the Power of Words forum in a day or two.
Peace, my friend.
I think you’ve hit the nail on the head by your bringing up the point about where we draw our respective lines. I’ll be proud to see what you say in the Power of Words forum. It’s a dang shame, but our little exchange here is more intelligent and civil than any I had all day at my job. Besides Marina’s obvious beauty and personality, and the info and fun of her lessons, being able to interact with people like you is a very goodly thing about HFW.
Thanks for putting up with me, amigo
Yet there are some people would go for it and take pleasure over the risk
Perhaps there are donkey punch awareness groups out there that can warn others of this alarming sexual practice
Alarming? [Pusillanimous] is what it is!
Anal sex with added protection could mean you need eyes in the back of your head

That, or what it means to give your girlfriend a blueberry, or both.
This is crazy!
Then there’s crazier (yoiks!)
Yeah, GP, I can tell you’re eagerly awaiting this video’s release. I bet you’ve got a whole jar of Vaseline® ready too…
 Sure. Oh, don’t leave out the latex gloves, zucchini, and “economy sized” in Vaseline®. If you’re going to perv rail on someone you can’t be a slacker about it.
Don’t you see the indecency in any of this?
We went from donkey punch to dirty sanchez then to giving your gf a blueberry. Wtf is this :?:
You tell me. I believe you brought up the last one, biggin!
Let’s not lose focus. We’re here to discuss word origins, not lube our genitalia up with baking butter.

Could you please clarify worldlover, and please be descriptive
 *sigh* If you insist.
We (you, I, and most here on http://www.hotforwords.com) are here because we love language(s) and find Marina very charming and witty. However, chances are the majority of subscribers just need something SFW (safe for work; i.e., non-pornographic, yet arousing) to pull their pud to. (Pull one’s pud = masturbate). Now do you understand?

Marina,
Just wanted to tell you how much I’m enjoying your calendar. You’re lovely, as always, and the word stuff is great. Thanks so much. You brighten every one of my days when I think of you.
Always.
Dear Marina,
In High School, I worked in the family’s restaurant and often had to do my homework late at night. At the university, I also worked a job, so I’d stay up late many times to write term papers, cram for mid-term and final exams. In the Army, we operated on absolute operational schedules, so we had to solve problems and set up equipment properly to have signal equipment and systems operational on schedule, 24/7. So it’s no wonder that we now start work early, stay until late, because we’re in the habit of working long and hard to produce great results. We’ve been doing this all the time. Now, we do it to get perks, promotoins, better pay, job security and to afford to go out on dates on Friday nights!

Yo Geek, Me think so too ;-)
The notion of someone taking advantage of another person’s desire to work has been used to condemn things such as the Industrial Revolution and Out-sourcing of work (e.g., Nike) — in all such cases, it is a false notion and a false condemnation.
Ask anyone who has achieved anything in any endeavor — in sports (professional or olympic), in music, in the electronic industry etc. — and you will see that they worked and continue to work long hours. If a person is driven that way, it is not something to be guilty of — rather it is something to be proud of.

Interesting. Oh, BTW, why didn’t you post before I did?
What Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1807 – 1882) wrote:
 Wadsworth was a bright fellow.
Interesting how your attitude is to exploit anyone in any way that you can to your benefit. Typical slave owner mentality.
No idea what you are talking about.
Limited intelligence, hmmmm interesting.
Ouch! Somebody’s in a baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad mood…
Sorry, I was not aware of your handicap of stupidity; but since you indicate an interest in this thread, I’ll elaborate a little, but just once: There is no connection between (#2.3) and (#2, and anything else I have written on HFW).
More evidence of your limited intelligence ,this is getting more and more interesting , ability of concious denial of recognizable though relationships among related subject materials hmm fascinating. You are an interesting test subject.
“taking advantage of another person’s desire to work” is a completely different thing from I took advantage of my desire to work to better my circumstances.
There is a difference between force and voluntary trade. There is no exploitation in free trade; there are no lords and slaves in free trade. People engage in free trade for their own advantage.
Not talking about trade talking about motivation of desire to work.
Then there is the beginning of Freedoms Plow by Langston Hughes:
When a man starts out with nothing,
When a man starts out with his hands
Empty, but clean,
When a man starts to build a world,
He starts first with himself
And the faith that is in his heart-
The strength there,
The will there to build.
First in the heart is the dream-
Then the mind starts seeking a way.
His eyes look out on the world,
On the great wooded world,
On the rich soil of the world,
On the rivers of the world.
Good. Here’s Friedrich Nietzsche in Beyond Good and Evil expressing a somewhat similar sentiment to that in the first stanza above:
“It is not the works, but the belief which is here decisive and determines the order of rank–to employ once more an old religious formula with a new and deeper meaning,–it is some fundamental certainity which a noble soul has about itself, something which is not to be sought, is not to be found, and perhaps, also, isnot to be lost.–The noble soul has reverence for itself.–”
Although Hughes uses the word “faith” and Nietzsche uses “belief” to characterize a certain view of oneself, that view of oneself is actually acquired by thought — the view is a conclusion one arrives at after having lived and observed for some time.
Even better:
“I had nothing to offer anybody except my own confusion” ~
Jack Kerouac
Now that is something to which I can relate.
Cute.
I agree.
