I wonder if the number of views per video has any influence on the position in ‘Most Popular’. Look at Chris Brown TV, Leona Lewis, Fred and Beonce, all ahead of you but Michael Jackson still behind despite only 35 videos. :???:

Hey Bob, check out my commentary on the Pot page. The absolute views are not as much of a factor as are the change of views (delta / velocity) which is a strong indicator of popularity.

However, everything is not static, the dynamics of adding new videos to the mix and removing older ones as well as stale ones all contribute to the dynamics . Doing intensive analysis, albeit manually for right now.

I see a “Shorty Award” in your future, with a trip to the awards ceremony & all. Just been watching your tweets… yah thats right, I said “tweets”… & noticed your followership growing there too. The numbers & vatiety of people using the twitter thing is fascinating as well.
Don’t let your happiness or satisfaction (joy), depend on your popularity or success though, that’s a dangerous road to travel. You already know that… just had to say it to remind myself.
You have a certain je ne sais quoi, and “it” hits folks upside the head & makes it impossible for them to not pay attention to you.

The list is led by major music groups with thousands of videos, so I’m impressed that you rank so high with just a few hundred videos.
As for YouTube’s “secret formula”, whenever I watch you on YouTube, I always log in, rate your video, and post a small comment. Whatever their “secret formula” may be, I think these things will help your standing.
My happiness comes from watching your videos, so I’m glad I subscribed over seven months ago, on July 3rd.

Marina will always be #1 to me.

I don’t get it- watch then rate; watch again and again; watch and rate then clear “cookies” and do it all over again. I see that some people get more views per day yet they don’t have more overall views. I just think that Marina should get as much credit (and pay) for all the views (including the ones that people get when they use her videos for their Web Site or YT Channel.) And I’m willing to spend a little more time helping by watching, clearing, and sending emails, etc. .
Also why isn’t Marina in more magazines here in the U.S. ? Besides TA’s it seems she needs PRA’s (oh I know, “this is a one woman show”). Just “thinking out loud” while trying to help out a little.

How many have multiple Ph.D.’s? How many make Playboy playmates green with envy? How many have fans and students such as we…?
