Very talented artist, I also noticed he did this looking at it upside down, I watched this off your twitter post. I thought it was going to be up for auction on Ebay?

  • seesixcm6

What a very creative artist! I’m glad you decided to put this artwork on your wall. To own artwork that you love must be a special feeling!

I have always been curious has to how the brain of an artist envision his surroundings.

How do you flip images around in your brain and then execute your hands to transfer such an image.

    New character counter,

  • http://www.hotforwords.com Marina

I tried to mail you a pic.. but it came back. Can you message me your real name and address so that I can re-send it seesixcm6?

  • http://www.youtube.com/CheVolay Che Volay

I would give you my real name and address but you skeeerr me.

  • seesixcm6

Oh, I already sent Marina my real name and address! The service sent back an automated acknowledgement. Should I also be scared? Is the FSB looking for former Американский офицер to kidnap? :!:

I once thought of using make-up to make a portrait.

  • originalistrick

Oh…what a talent…the upside-down aspect…I’m stammering like an idiot. Wouldn’t you like to somehow know EXPLICITLY what is going on in this guy’s brain while he’s doing this compared to us?
Great music, too! Have to look into both these performers.
Thanks so much for this, Marina. I probably would never have been introduced to the artist or the musicians were it not for you.

    Always.

  • niteowl

I would like a life-size portrait of Marina in lipstick, oil or anything else for that matter.

    Very nice.

Marina, I’m not saying this to kiss ass(ooohh!), but Angelina J. isn’t even in your league. Sincerely.

Wow… very cool, and makes me wonder how long it took to complete this project.

  • http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=veritanuda veritanuda

Yup, I admit I have been a fan of ElectricAsylumArt for about as long as I have been on YouTube. Check out his other videos especially the one done in crayons, that is just sooo cute :)

But beyond that I also liked his tutorials on what art and portrait painting is all about. It is an interesting stance to be so observational about how copying a portrait is far easier than generating actual art itself, but in a rational sort of way makes much sense. It is about seeing the world and not just looking at it.

In all I think Jason is just a cool guy and deserves all the recognition he can get. Anyone can be good at a subject but takes something to be great at it :)

And you ended up with Angelina on your wall.. now how cool is that! :)

  • http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=veritanuda veritanuda

Doh.. I am ALWAYS doing that..! EclecticAsylumArt ;)

    Apologies..

You can tell I am an engineer can’t you :P

  • Chemikal

    I would have though you’d get a picture of Brad… :)
I like Angie, she’s very passionate about her charity work.
Since 2001 she managed to donate a truck load of money, I have no idea how much, but she and her husband donated over $8 million dollars in 2006 alone. She even donated the $500.000 that she got off her pregnancy pictures.
Actress, wife, charity supporter, and public figure, yeah, who wouldn’t want her on his wall? Not to mention that she’s a babe! (sorry Brad, I’m just saying man) :)
The lipstick factor is amazing, I think I see 20 different lipsticks on there.
Not many people have a video of their painting in the works, but you do. He did it facing it upside down too? Amazing work, and congratulations! to you as well, for making such a smart acquisition! (thanks for sharing it with us)

  • Chemikal

Wait, what’s wrong with being an engineer?

  • originalistrick

Woops, caught me. Seriously, while that thought is beyond tantalizing, I personally have our darling instructor at the top of my fantasy girl list. Fact is, she IS my fantasy girl list.

  • leonard

Chemical: I think [Engineer] would make an excellent philologist study; Master Marina has been showing some of the best skills at this . Processing of what you have to work with is the dreaming answer. I notice in life, some engineers are only into themselves and that makes for too much useless policy. Bees are good

  • absentmindedprof

Wow! Amazing! When is he going to do one of you, teach?

Well, speaking of paintings, it’s now been 11 days since I wrote your business email and three days since I wrote you directly:

Hello Marina, I don’t want to post this on the comments (but since you and your office don’t or wont reply, let’s try this in public…sorry).
I wrote your business link eight days ago and asked if your paintings were for sale anywhere. I also gave (you) information on director Michael Mann and his work with Ferrari and how you could do work with them in LA and become a Russian spokesmodel for their luxury brand and others. I even offered to help you and your boyfriend (whoever drives the GT3 Porsche that was in your recent slide show) enjoy top-level luxury cars for a drive in Malibu.
NO RESPONSE LIKE I’M NOTHING FOR BEING NICE AND TRYING TO HELP YOU AND BUY SOMETHING FROM YOU AS WELL!
You know, I’ve bought your calendar, I’ve written privately and advised you to do political words during the election season and was happy to then see you go on shows like OReily and so forth. I’ve cared about helping you and I don’t deserve even an answer for wanting to buy a painting from you and help your career even more? OK. Thanks again for visiting Wyoming. Last year, I wrote your office about possibly bringing you and yours up here for a $6,000 speaking engagement. But you’ve been here, right? OK. Hope to hear from you…although I think I’m losing interest in your artwork…and your career, unfortunately. If I don’t matter, trying to be nice…duh

There’s a Marina Orlova in Russia who is an artist old enough to be (this) MO’s mother. And the guy who did the Jolie “lipstick”
painting was working off of pencil, already drawn on the canvas. A Jackson Hole artist, James Wilcox, paints with a mirror so the scene is completely backwards to him and in translating it back to normal he is able to view it more abstractly. I mention that since Marina was in Jackson last year or so and you saw her with the buffalo and bear. The buff was outside the gallery that used to sell my paintings before they retired.

  • Capman911

Yea Cha Cha they do. I used to be in heat over an American Indian lady who wore brown lipstick and eye liner. Man was she gorgeous.

    So why didn’t you?
You could have been the fly on Marina’s wall.

Hello John, I respectfully come to you as a friend and it my deepest wish that the following words do not offend you in any way. I am sincerely asking some questions, for which I do not expect any answers. I do not know you, but I have looked at all of your videos and the ones you posted in the past.

My question is; what makes you think that all of the things that you have offered, can help her anyway? Absence of an answer is not a rejection. Giver her time. She has over 178,000 subscribers and I would imagine that she gets offers all day long to offer her help.

My gravatar is the epitome of the White Knight in shining armor, but no story book ending has yet been fulfilled. Do I have any expectations? None!

I give of myself freely and I have no expectations of any return or favors of any sort, ever. By giving the other person the exercise of their free choice, they have implicitly allowed me that same freedom.

My question is; aren’t you using your so called good will towards Marina a way to hijack and control her? How is it ever possible to be nice? You either are, or you aren’t. There is no trying. The choice isn’t yours anyway. Other’s will let you know if you are nice or not. Consider that which you behold as nice and your help might be considered something totally different by others.

John, do you think we expect too much of others in our culture?

  • CampKohler – Sacramento CA

As I watched this, I suspected there had to be something else beside the bare canvas. There were too many points in the painting that he allowed for ahead of time that fell perfectly into place later and it was upside down. In other words, if he had no help (penciled lines, a mirror tracing device, etc.), it would be too great of a feat for even a talented human. Maybe a savant could do it, though.

  • neuroway

She definitely attracts the eyes of many artists. From Tomb Raider, she was amazingly digitalized as a witch in the computer-generated movie Beowulf.

  • hot-dog-lincoln

What a wonderful gift to be able to do something like this… WOW!

  • http://laserradio.com/gallery2.html wyo550

.meant to post to a nice fellow’s remark below. Sorry

  • http://laserradio.com/gallery2.html wyo550

Thank you for your kind and thoughtful remarks. Before posting this, I sent three private messages over 11 days to the business link and then three days ago I wrote the private link for Marina. All some staff person had to do was reply, “Her paintings aren’t for sale. Thanks for writing.” But nothing. And I didn’t mention how I also suggested to the business link that Marina represented a post-Soviet woman who had made it in the West and I’d hope that some producer would do what an Irish TV crew I met on Long Island had done: Include her in a story about Russian women who had made it in America. I’m thinking people like Barbara Walters (family) and Estee Lauder and so forth. I’ve been writing little items like that for months, not expecting anything, just trying to help. If anything, I’m now pointing out a deficiency in her organization and I didn’t want to do it in public. But (like you and everyone here) I care about her happy success and want to see it continue…and grow.

Hi John, thank you for your kind and generous reply.
I can understand how you feel and I would feel the same way as you. I think most of us want some kind of feedback and acknowledgment, even if it is just to say ‘No’. I personally do not know Marina nor do I speak for her, so I can only offer you the following.

I am glad that you wish Marina every success and lot of us do and I’m wondering if it is not a little overwhelming for Marina and I know from her comments and videos that she wishes that she could respond. I’m sure she has a lot on her mind and has a lot of offers of help to sort through. I’m sure Marina has read these comments as I know you posted your message on another page. Have you tried to contact her on Twitter?

I’d say, give it some time. I’m sure she is swamped with various projects.

When is your book LoveDotCon going to be done? It sounds very interesting, intriguing and suspenseful.

    Kindest Regards, PK

  • kaibanator

I must admit, that painting look awesome

I think it actually makes Angelina Jolie look younger. The facial expression really was a good choice for the painting

  • kaibanator

My sister has a funny, if not slightly disturbing pic on her bathroom wall

    Enjoy!!
