Hello Marine: I have been gone a long time but I would like to know the origin of the word “gimmick” I watched all the videos I have missed since I was gone and am now caught up. Conrgats to melikadachahca for the T.A. position and to karl for being # 1 again.

  • seesixcm6

Dear совершенная Marina, I hope you posted this video safely from home, but it’s also possible for you to post from San Francisco. (Get home safely!) I was happy to see you tease us about your photos in your calendar. You are a true Calendar Girl in the nicest sense of the word.
Once again, you promised Christmas cards to subscribers. I subscribed months ago, and now I suspect you are trying to increase your subscriptions! (This isn’t a bad thing if it keeps you on YouTube.) :!:
To answer your question, the collar and leash are for Gorby, but you would look beautiful wearing anything (or not). Вы красивейши. Your dear student, seesixcm6

Pavel, As you know, “soverschchennaya” means “perfect.” Marina is intelligent, educated, beautiful, she keeps a clean house and her clothing is clean and neat. After Marina said she was also a great cook, I knew Marina was the perfect woman!
I don’t think I’m wealthy enough for Marina, but when Marina earns enough selling calendars, everything may be good! seesixcm6

  • jay2wice

Marina you are the best !!! I think philology students have tripled over the past year because of you. Anyways, what’s the origin of the word “gist” . For example, ‘I think I get the gist of it’. . . I hope this gets me Teacher’s Pet Points (T.P.P.)

I think the collar suits you. It is a turn on to see a beautiful woman on a leash. gets into the whole fetish thing you talked about in a previous video. Guess I don’t have a fetish for JUST Marina’s feet huh?

  • http://ru.youtube.com/user/gumforever Pavel Shimansky

i know that соверщенная means perfect, because i am russian! and i entirely agree with you that marina is beautiful, intelligent and educated. She is a typical russian girl!! do you agrre with me Marina?

    how to became “marina’s pet”?

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/mikemx32 Capman911

Just keep doing what you are doing as far as commenting , giving Marina compliments, help members on the site with where to find old HFWs videos, but I would suggest letting Marina answer peoples word requests as that what gives her the word lessons to do. Just make yourself know around here and talk to people and be friendly like have been. That’s all.

When I was in college I was fortunate to be a member of the finest section of the greatest marching band in the history of mankind. Our motto we chanted before each performance was G.Y.S.T., (pronounced “jist”) as in “Get Your S!!t Together!” Different from your request, but a nice memory.

Very good lesson Marina! Very entertaining and educational or should I say it was HOT HOT HOT! (aka as fashionable, creative, new) Homework: Maybe if you wear a collar more often then Gorby might like it more. As for me, I don’t know why I do (other than erotic reasons) but I very much like it when women wear collars or aka chokers. I’ve see paintings of women wearing chokers with very nice 18th century gowns. Most of them are just a black ribbon with a little diamond or stone attached to the front. I had a girlfriend back in junior high that wore one for me. So I have been attracted to them way back in the 7th grade.

This lesson is “a horse of a different collar.”

I’m not one for all that slapping and whipping stuff; I’m into cuddling and hugging. Marina, if anyone walks up to you and says, “Let’s have a kiss” and extends his left hand as though he were the Pope and you were supposed to kiss his ring, that will be me. Now we have our secret greeting.

  • maxpappy

    Hi Marina,
Thanks for the lesson. Just a note, if any other students are interested that are on facebook, I have created a “flair” button of you in pigtails, with Hotforwords.com. Does this qualify me as a teacher’s pet?

Also, I was wondering since the holidays are here, if you could provide us with the entemology of the word “Noel.” Thanks!

  • hm3

Marina said be good, but her wearing that collar and leash, I think that you’d have more fun being bad.

  • cmacfamsc

Here’s a word request. How did the expression “good grief” come to be?

  • John

Marina; thats a nice store bought collar with leash, however you would look better with my collar that i braided by hand from shoelaces without the leash as its apparent that you have a good measure of self control and don’t need to be restrained and could also be used to whip you with if you behaved badly thats why you would only misbehave when you wanted another whipping.

  • John

I don’t know if it’s the dress you wearing but setting on that coach makes you butt look wide but no necessarly fat.

A mature lady gets pulled over for speeding… Older Woman: Is there a problem, Officer?
Officer : Ma’am, you were speeding.

    Older Woman: Oh, I see.

Officer: Can I see your license please?

Older Woman: I’d give it to you but I don’t have one.

    Officer: Don’t have one?

Older Woman: Lost it, 4 years ago for drunk driving.

Officer: I see..Can I see your vehicle registration papers please.

Older Woman: I can’t do that.

    Officer: Why not?

Older Woman: I stole this car.

    Officer: Stole it?

Older Woman: Yes, and I killed and hacked up the owner.

    Officer: You what?

Older Woman: His body parts are in plastic bags in the trunk if you want to see

The Officer looks at the woman and slowly backs away to his car and calls for back up. Within minutes 5 police cars circle the car. A senior officer slowly approaches the car, clasping his half drawn gun.

Officer 2: Ma’am, could you step out of your vehicle please! The woman steps out of her vehicle.

Older woman: Is there a problem sir?

Officer 2: One of my officers told me that you have stolen this car and murdered the owner.

    Older Woman: Murdered the owner?

Officer 2: Yes, could you please open the trunk of your car, please.

The woman opens the trunk, revealing nothing but an empty trunk.

Officer 2: Is this your car, ma’am?

Older Woman: Yes, here are the registration papers.
    The officer is quite stunned.

Officer 2: One of my officers claims that you do not have a driving license.

The woman digs into her handbag and pulls out a clutch purse and hands it to the officer.

The officer examines the license. He looks quite puzzled.

Officer 2: Thank you ma’am, one of my officers told me you didn’t have a license, that you stole this car, and that you murdered and hacked up the owner.

Older Woman: Bet the liar told you I was speeding, too.

Yeah, lucky bastard. I did admire how M bounced back with “Now you have a thumb nail!” remark. That was quick thinking! If she slapped him it would have been ugly. Maybe its a good thing I haven’t taught M any karate yet. She might have over reacted and karate chopped him to the ground. Over all I think Marina is a trooper. I’m very proud of her.

    Dear HFW,

I think Cha-Cha makes a superb point. I definitely heard Marina first say Kobe (in a cross tone), then Gorby and possibly Korby (?). That poor pooch! The image of the three headed bowzer from Greek mythology comes to mind. Kobe/Gorby/Korby must not know which way to turn. Is this any way to treat man’s best friend? And all this talk of collars and leashes….please.

Hey I didn’t even notice it. I thought the site was running a bit smoother. I thought my internet speeds were improving. Cocomment has some issues they need to work on. It seems looks are more important than function. Twitter is having issues also. There servers are unable to handle the loads.

I still get this reload thing going on. Page loads and I start to scroll down and then bang it pops back to the top again. Is it just me or are others having this problem too?

Yeap thats true. They started with the name apple. I think the story as I remember it Steve J. put and apple he was going to eat (or half eaten) up on the bench shelf. They had until the end of the day to come up with a better name or they would call it apple. Thats what I remember from the interview. You know I should just go over there and take Steve out to lunch and find out from him personally. I have been wanting to meet him in person for some time now since I’ve been using his computers since 79.

    So far we have :-
Steve Jobs said if you don’t come up with a name by the end of the day then we will call it “Apple Computer …”, apparently Steve liked apples.

The first Apple Computer logo was a drawing of Newton under an Apple tree and was drawn by Ronald Wayne.( the forgotten founder of Apple Inc )

The second Apple Computer logo was the apple with the bite taken out of it,
    and the rainbow colours.

It was drawn by a professional graphics designer by the name of Rob Janoff.

A buffoon is an bass brass instrument, falling between the French horn and the tuba. It has the unique property of having its timbre depend upon the shinyness of the outside of the metal. In order to be of “Stradivarius” quality, the player must spend hours buffing it to a high sheen, hence the name.

    It’s true, I tell you.

    Halo Marina :

Such a playful, cute, and polite production! Like.

My question, you may/may-not have noticed Marina, but in North America, many understand the word misogyny. However, few have heard of its opposite — misandrist. Strangely, one is in electronic spelling directories and the other isn’t, even.

Please tell me, what are the origins of these words and how is it that one can be so popular without the other?

Personally, I think that if there were just a little bit more effort — by many — put into understanding of the other sex, perhaps a little less selfishness, maybe even just a little bit more politeness, the significance of these words would melt away.

Have you got any tips for these English speaking cultures?

    Thankfully yours,

“An unfamiliar term for something that could not be more familiar to each of us: the ways things seem to us.”

I seek the Yang to my Yin and the qualia who will complete my life and make me whole. In more philosophical terms, qualia are properties of sensory experiences.

“SUGAR” Hi from Indiana. I would surely like to know the meaning of not only the word, but why it is phonetically even said incorrectly. Words starting with the letter ‘s’ are said for example: “supply”; or ‘supper’; or “soccer”‘ or “subdue” are all said with the letter “s”. Why is the word “sugar” so special in that it is said with the “sh” at the beginning of the word? :???: P.S. if you noticed above even the word “surely” is said the same way…. hmmmm…

I feel he should apologizes to Marina and everyone else that had to watch. He should do it on YT for everyone to see.

I’ve seen so much erosion in todays society it’s prompt me to ask questions. Does virtue still exist anymore? Is moral excellence and righteousness no longer an acceptable quality? What about chivalry? Is it also dead? I think the lack of these qualities is what leads to actions like this. Im not saying we should not stuffy all the time. Im saying we should have a balance of having fun doing crazy things but not to disrespect someone. It eats away a persons confidence among other things.

That reminds me of a scene from the movie — What’s New Pussycat — where Woody Allen works as a dresser for the strippers at the famous Crazy Horse Saloon in Paris. Peter O’Toole asks what the pay’s like. Woody replies, “Twenty dollars a week. It’s not much, I know. But it’s all I can afford.”

First, I agree with everyone, however, Marina did Twitter us with the following message:

    Marina Twittered:

“At the event. Keep an eye out as they will do a bit with me and William Sledd near the beginning :-)”

    So, the question that is begged;
    - Was it intended to be as we saw it?
    - Did William go too far (human malfunction similar to wardrobe malfunction ala Janet Jackson?
    - Multiple errors and missteps?

I’m sure Marina knows the answer and I’m sure she will answer as she sees fit.

If William indeed did go beyond the script, he definitely should apologize.

I think this site is an excellent example of demonstrating that many people still have courtesy and respect for their fellows. My belief is that it is just too easy for people to be crass on the internet because of the anonymity and that like people tend to attract each other. It is so convenient for 20 jerks who live thousands of miles apart to congregate, now. By the same token, it is also easy for me, now, to gain friends from Washington, Mexico, England, etc. I enjoy coming here because people that I will never see have continually gone out of their way in order to share happiness with me. Keep up the good ju-ju, folks. That wheel keeps turnin’

If the poof took a liberty and went beyond the script, Marina did extraordinarily well to come out with her come-back line about his thumb-nail, though she could have added something about his thumb-print, too.
If she agreed to it beforehand, then she has lost a lot of respect from her fans.
Paying the price of fame is one thing.

A lot of Marina’s fans are outraged by
    what happened. Your comment allows
us to respond to it intelligently, thanks.
We all have different ethnic, religious,
    political etc. backgrounds that make
us who we are. When we show respect
for those differences, we learn more
that we have much in common.
I do not have reason to believe this
was planned aforethought as part of
the show. Sledd will be remembered
for this, and his “family” will have to be
his teachers as to why it was wrong.
He should publicly apologise, at least.
Maybe Marina could do a bit showing
him writing “I will respect myself and
others” a gazillion times on a row of
    blackboards stretching to infinity.

bsomebody, Yes your exactly right Bob. Jerks love the internet because they can hid under a cloak of invisibility and say what is on their minds with no regard to their accountability. If one is able to look over the jerks in the front row, you will find the Royal Knights riding around with their large white steeds. They will show by example of all the good qualities like honor, respect, better morals, righteousness that make us great. I like the internet is great because it reduces geographical distances. We are able to meet these Knights that one might not find in our local neighborhoods. I see the internet bringing people closer together. Yea its not face to face but for now this is the technology we have for now.

Qualia is an island country in the South Pacific. The entire economy is based on the export of artichokes. The native population subsists entirely on artichokes, for which there are over 10,000 recipes. All jokes are about artichokes in one way or another. Example:

Joe: “Are you feeling horny today?”
    Moe: “Only at the top.”

    It’s true, I tell you.

I have the same issue. I don’t think is an error with HFW site but with our browsers trying to speed up page loads by not updating data that it thinks has not changed. Pedantickarl is correct. A Larum for London.. Just as the city is described by the Spaniards as a woman to be won – “She must be courted … her self invites, / And beckons us unto her sportfull bed” – so are the burghers themselves characterized in feminine terms: they have bodies “us’d to soft effeminate silkes” and minds “set all on dalliance” , while “Cankering rust, devours [their] emptie Cannons” , the only symbols of masculine power associated with them.

A halter, headcollar, or, less often, headstall, is headgear that is used to lead or tie up livestock and, occasionally, other animals; it fits behind the ears (behind the poll), and around the muzzle. To handle the animal, usually a lead rope or lead shank is attached. On smaller animals, such as dogs, a leash is attached to the halter.    sourced:  wikipedia Leonard 50 lb Spreader…   http://www.amleo.com/leonard-50-lb-spreader/p/AM50P/     pretty cool…      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leonardo_da_Vinci
