I saw when she first posted the add at the top of the page a day or two ago before she actually put out the post by the comments section. That was one time I was paying attention. Marina, as for any “problems” people might be expressing with the purchase. After my previous entry I went back to the order form and then WAS able to get beyond the “create account” screens. After that, the “Checkout” went smoothly and I finished the transaction with credit card. People should know that PayPal doesn’t work. Hope your sister can sign my calendar, Marina. I know I can’t be one of the first 100 people because it takes the internet longer to get to Wyoming. That’s why we all drive such fast cars up here…to make up for the relativistic effects. Anyway, I’m happy to purchase your calendar and reward you a little for all your thousands of hours of hard work and your always happy smile (except when that wicked sister of yours is there!) I tried to purchase your calendar Marina. On the first page, a big Pay with Paypal box at the bottom. Great! Just how I want to pay! Enter all the order info, and THEN it says, Sorry, can’t purchase this item with Paypal. WHAT??? That’s really messed up!

You certainly need a better retailer my dear! I was desperate to be in the first 100, but when you go to their site the only option is credit card. If you click on the PayPal icon all you get is promo info. Their FAQ section says you can pay with PayPal, but doesn’t tell you how, plus it also says you can’t use PayPal for preorder items. Most confusing!

What a dumb system they have! I sent them an email asking how I use PayPal, but got back a form email saying that if my email doesn’t relate to an order, they may not reply. Who designs these idiotic systems?

For those complaining about the PayPal confusion, the system presents you with a message as soon as you click on “ADD TO CART” and prior to clicking on “Checking Out”.
The message reads:

* Please note: Your shopping cart contains one or more items that cannot be paid for with PayPal.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

It seems clear to me.
Marina, my shopping experience was satisfactory.

Now, Twitter, now those people need massive technical writing talent. Somebody over there is all screwed up.

The ‘confusion’ over PayPal is that they advertise ‘Shop now using PayPal’ even though they don’t accept it ( ‘for all items; I didn’t put other items in my cart to see if any were available with PayPal – to me it doesn’t matter if the item I do want isn’t one of them ).

If they advertise ‘Shop now using PayPal’ they should accept it. Telling you after you shop isn’t what I would call good business.

In some states this kind of bait and switch is illegal. If they are that desparate to get your credit card # doesn’t it worry you that they may not be the most reputable company?

I’m sure that many will get their calendars as advertised and with no problems but it makes me very suspicious.

I think they can’t use PayPal on a pre-order…. so once the calendars can be shipped (Dec. 5th) then I think PayPal kicks in. I’ll let you guys know more as soon as I find out more (Monday I hope).

orion_ss1, I think PayPal has rules in that you cannot pre-order something… and I think that’s why the PayPal doesn’t work. I will find out more on Monday. The company I am using is one of the most reputable merchandising companies in the world. They handle the OFFICIAL merchandise for bands like: Linkin Park, Pussycat Dolls, Alanis Morissette, Rihanna.. http://bandmerch.com/clients

I do understand what you are saying about pre-orders; but then that should have been stated at least as clearly as the ‘Shop now using PayPal’ icon. When something like this happens, a question I always ask myself is ‘is this the first time this kind of a problem has come up?’. And then you have to wonder ‘why didn’t they solve it before?’ If I was the only one having this problem I’d feel silly, but lots of folks were mislead and confused.

It looks like this also means that PayPal shoppers will not be eligible for the autographs.

As far as making things clear to shoppers is concerned, if a dummie like me was able to see the notice that PayPal could not be used, even at the first reading, then anyone should have been able to see it.

I am *not* a paypal fan! Recently I paid My rent 2 months ahead,opted out of using paypal cause there was a choice,was charged for 2 “orders” even tho I did it with 1 payment(My fault on that cause I inserted “2″). I could have driven cash or check the 3 miles to the Landlord’s house! I told Him “I coulda driven a Harrier Jump-Jet there and back for less than the handling charges”, :lol: ,never again…Then He told Me that the paypal owner/exec is one of the top 20 richest in the world,,I see no need to make paypal richer when there are other ways and it is possible to give other reputable companies a chance to make some money,after all,We need smaller biz or the big biz just becomes more and more powerful/unfair. If I don’t trust an online pay site then I phone the payment in,,,or,,,I just don’t buy it.

orion_ss1, the website where my calendar is for sale offers PayPal… but not yet on my Calendar. I don’t think they can change the entire website just for my one calendar. I pushed them to get my calendar out quickly, and I guess the PayPal button is a result of that haste. I hope to have it corrected by next week. I, of course, would like to be able to take PayPal as well.

i understand your suspicion, orion_ss1, and appreciate you trying to protect users who might not have thought out some of the implications…in this case i tend to believe the “Shop Now With Paypal” icon is a default icon placed by the website, not something Marina can control. much like the google ads that show up on her vids, and like other sites where advertising shows up on all pages…

Marina has always been scruptiously honest, above reproach, and dang sweet to everyone on the site – even to the point of tolerating some who i would’ve tossed long ago…

I agree it probably is something that Marina CAN’T control, but thats all the more reason to be careful with a new vendor.

THe site has a problem. Even though there didn’t seem to be too much for sale, this probably is NOT the first time they’ve had a similar problem on the vendor’s site, and yet they haven’t had the motivation to fix it.

The calendar is the only thing for sale on the page when you click on ‘Click Here Order Now’ above. No, its not Marina’s site, but its got her name on it. They ( presumably ) will be making money on it ( which I’m OK with ) but they should be operating a little more clearly.

If I was the only one who thought this was a little suspect, it might be different.

I too believe Marina is honest, but if the vendor site turns out to be a scam for ID theft with credit card numbers what will anyone be able to do then?

I haven’t had many problems on eBay, but any difficulties I had when I used PayPal got resolved. When dealing with someone new, I’d prefer to use PayPal until I get comfortable.

There seems to be a problem with the signed calendars. Marina is looking into the issue and will come up with a solution. :grin:

It’s really cool that she’s concerned enough to look into it, it might not even be amistake and the people who got the signed ones just haven’t said anything.

She is concerned about many things the problem comes about is finding time to deal with these problems. If you read her forum discussions, you will find what a typical day is like. Just to do one 3 minute lesson takes her a full day. That’s not including other personal project that she needs to complete. I’m a mazed how she can keep up. I bet she has more energy than a 5 year old toddler.

I can’t imagine how she even gets to her emails.

Some days I can’t even keep up with my emails from the site so I know how hard it is for her. Most of her replies are just one line sentences. Some people get very upset about that but it’s a big time saver for her. :smile: I’m the LTA and she only gives me an occasional one line email so I see myself as very privileged to get a reply. Some people think she has a staff of email readers when actually its just her and Gorby. :shock: Gorby is the worst! He hasn’t replied to one email yet. :roll:

currently, marina has just over 150,000 subscribers on youtube.
i dont know how many active members there on this site, nor do i know of any other community based sites she uses, ie myspace, facebook etc. (i know she uses twitter but not how much)

misscupcake1 has 3,500 subscribers on youtube. and some myspace friends. and a miniature amount of people to talk to vox.com (blog) and twitter.

misscupcake already finds it hard to answer every email. i can physically open them all and read them all, but i cant physically answer them all because if i did, i wouldnt have time to feed my cat, go to the gym, frost cupcakes at work, or buy myself watermelon to feast upon.

im amazed marina even knows who i am by name, let alone replies to my emails. it really frustrates me when someone gets upset with me when i cant answer their mail.
i cant imagine how many people send messages to marina whinging about being ignored.

marina is the best person on youtube that i have come across. you can rest assured i am not saying this because she will read it, because in truth she is not likely to read it because she has so much to do and cannot read every comment on every video.

Forgive me if I’m being techno-challenged, but I cannot find anything about HFW T-shirts on this site! And I’m sure the potential demand is enormous! Even my ex-wife said so (she meant it, though maybe not kindly :sad:)

Other merchandising ideas:
–HFW on DVD (of course) — lots of us would pay to watch Marina on the big screen TV instead of the computer.

I was wondering if you ever got to the bottom of who snaked all the signed calenders? I haven’t found any on ebay yet so thats good but I’m not done hunting!

i orderd 3 calenders for christmas presents but the fedex guy couln’t find the place off the main road in a town with about 200 people so i had to cancle the credit card billing. Is there a way to get it send to the post office ?

One little problem though…you’ll note that your calendar shows July 1st falling on a Monday; however, it should be a Wednesday…the entire month of July is wrong :sad:

So, since you’ll have two days freed up when you move the 1st from Monday to Wednesday, I have a great idea – it’ll be a perfect time of year for some water sports; and, since I’ve got a couple of hovercrafts that we could run up and down the river on, why don’t you come Upstate and spend a couple days with me at the camp for a little fun in the sun on the water :mrgreen: Sound like a good idea to you? That would sure take care of the calendar problem for me…

We(most of us anyway) want a 2011 calender!!!
I still have the signed copy I waited for at the end of the driveway for, for three days, in the rain, and no food or water. I got heat stroked and sunburned but its ok, I just didn’t want the postman touching it too much. ;-)
