This origined from GI's fighting in Germany during second World War 2. They heard the Krauts say "Furchtbar" very often, which means as much as CRUEL. And because Americans weren't very skilled and talented in german language they said the word incorrectly and this sounded like "FUBAR"...and because this soldiers didn't know the right meaning they just sais that from now on it should be a shortening. I hope you did understand me, because i am not very talented in english language either^^ Yes FUBAR…fu..ed up beyond all recognition.
