And this buildings doesn’t look like poor worksmanship. It was an old thing with thick walls and secret spyholes.

The Idea with the birthday suits is nice, I would go for it.

I think I’m not old enough (Hurray for that) to remeber the post WWII time. But I never heard the term jury or jerry-rigged in german content. What we got were “Nissen-Hütten” or Barracks. Small temporary housings build from corrugated metal (Wellblech in german). I don’t where the Nissen comes from but since there were many people (3 or 4 families on 30 – 40 Squaremeters) oin a very limited space with no or sub-optimal conditions in regard of eating and washing it may come from the eggs of lice which are calles Nissen in german.

The “Jerry” or “Jury” could come from GI if you bend it hard enough, but rigged? I can’t think of a german term that would fit in here.

Maybe Mac Gyver can help and make a time maschine from a shoestring and a pencil…
